Xbox One update with voice messaging and improved party chat released

All Xbox One users can now send voice messages to their peers, as Microsoft has released its May system update for the console.

The update, which has been in testing with update preview members since late March, also brings improvements to the console's party chat function, as detailed in a post on Microsoft's official Xbox Wire website. With the update, dedicated servers will now be used for party chats, which will alleviate problems some Xbox Live users faced because of NAT issues.

Other changes and improvements include the ability to turn off a console via the Xbox One SmartGlass app as well as the addition of a choice screen featuring energy-saving options upon initial setup of an Xbox One console.

The May update for Xbox One is now rolling out to all consoles.

Sanctyy It's really pathetic that it's taken this long for party chat to be fixed because it's been having issues since release and that's just too long. Good thing I'm not a console user because I'd be pissed off 24/7 at MS if I was tbh.


the xbox 360 chat was fine, why cant they fix it seriously?

Exactly you couldnt of said it better. imo


There are many features 360 had that the XB1 didnt but now do. It is kinda stupid but we should still appreciate it and they are better improved versions!

Grimlock Idk but I still cant send voice messages to people. I have my astro a50s in and mic working but It doesnt show anything for voice chat.


When you want to send a message before you click on the message thing to get the keyboard up right next to it is a small icon which is voice message.

This is the kind of flaws that should have already been figured out and fixed way before the console was released. The updates kinda seem like a downgrade in most cases of stuff we had on older consoles.
