GTA 5 PC patch disables mods. Here’s how to get them working again

4.7
A new patch for the PC version of GTA 5 was released yesterday and, as it turns out, has wiped the ability to use mods with the game.

The wasn’t great news for some players, but YouTuber taltigolt has already figured out how to play the PC version with mods after installing the patch.

Matt detailed the patch notes yesterday which include fixing freezing and crashing bugs, and issues when launching the game in offline mode.

There are all sorts of mods available, from customising cars, to a zombie apocalypse, so fans will no doubt be happy about the workaround.

More talks on Reddit about Rockstar doing this on purpose. What's new?

Modding GTA V is the sole for it even coming out on the PC as far as anybody other than Rockstar is concerned.

Too bad us console users cant use mods at all!!
atleast give xbox them not ps;)

Mods for GTAV on the PC should not be getting removed as long as they don't ruin other players' experience in multiplayer.

Znait They won't unban me. Screw rockstar, I was recording footage with friends for a video I was doing for school simulating the great depression.

Don't mod. I'm glade they banned you. Play the game legit. Besides, you broke the EULA lmao so it's kinda well..... Your fault.

Except it isn't in the EULA? Rockstar even gave us the tools to mod. It isn't our fault at all and they actually are unbanning us because it was a mistake. They were trying to catch the money/rank/godmode cheaters but it picked up also the modders who were messing around with the singleplayer. Idiots never read.

Idiots get banned.... Idiots use mods/hacks on a games to get unfair advantages like you. Also it is in the EULA. You should read it sometime. Moron

Or people use mods to add to the game and improve it. Examples would be new weapons, jobs, missions, vehicles, skins, graphics, etc. Most mods are not about cheating and getting unfair advantages. This is where pc modding is different than console modding and you and rocksfar seem to miss that. The vanilla game eventually gets boring and the pc community likes to enhance games themselves and add on to them for a better experience and replayability. The main reason mods are not supported on gta is the way the game is made with single player and multiplayer crossing over like they do. this works great on consoles but on pc the .dll files all of the mods are saved on just cross over. What they should do is if you have a certain mod installed you can only play with people that also have that mod installed. For this they should implement a server browser. Also include a mod menu (NOT THE TYPE YOUR THINKING ABOUT) but one like civilization 5 or arma has where you can enable and disable mods freely at the main menu.

exactly. Look at the fallout and elderscrolls community. Mods are what it thrives on. I mod the hell out my skyrim copy. Looks beautiful.

Beet This pisses me off. I wish they would allow private servers like other games so you don't have to worry about. Also banning single player mods is rediculous. Modding is what makes pc gaming what it is and r* is trying to hold the game back. Why do they not support or even encourage mods like the other pc game developers do? It increases sales, adds to the community, and maintains replayability.

Because they want people to actually play the game to earn their shit and not cheat their way there.

We're talking about SinglePlayer. Cheating in single player is like cheating against a 5 year old in checkers. No one cares.

Empyrean The patch is perfect in my opinion, it's stupid that PC gamers think that because they have a PC that they think they can mod games. Modding games is against the rules in most games so why do PC gamers think they're above the rest?

I can tell you have no idea what the you are talking about. I'm an xbox and PC player and PC mods are for fun. They don't ruin the game and aren't against the rules. Most developers encourage people to mod there games so more people will play them.
