Rumor: Call of Duty exclusivity deal moving over to PlayStation?

4.3
We can’t imagine a world where Call of Duty and Microsoft part ways, but just because we can’t imagine it doesn’t mean it could never happen. There’s a lot of rumors circulating that Microsoft may have lost the exclusivity and/or marketing deal for Call of Duty this year to PlayStation. Rumors started with industry insiders and quickly began to look like a possibility once the Black Ops 3 teasers hit.

DLC is just the first half of the equation. What would this mean for future Black Ops 3 events? or Call of Duty Championship 2016?

Exhibit A) Official Sony Twitter account tweeted both teasers and uploaded to their YouTube channels at the exact time they went live. Microsoft waited at least an hour in both cases.

Exhibit B) Sony hasnt uploaded a Call of Duty video since Call of Duty Ghosts.

Exhibit C) No Xbox One branding at begining of teasers.

Exhibit D) Neogaf “Industry Insider” Kyoufu is indcating that the Call of Duty exclusivity deal has moved over to Sony.

At the very least, it looks like Sony is showing more CoD love this year. We should know for sure this Sunday when the first full trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops 3 releases. Every reveal trailer has been attached with a press release that announces its renewed partnership with Microsoft so time will tell soon….

Xbox uploaded that trailer on their Youtube channel minutes after the official CoD channel did. Sony uploaded it hours after that. I think you guys are high.

Can't really see this happening tbh Microsoft with always have it there way, but if it does its only a month

Waterfalls I don't see this happening they would lose so much money

That literally makes no sense. Sony and Activision/Treyarch wouldn't lose anything. MS would possibly lose out on some money, but people are still going to buy the game and DLC if they were going to anyway. This just means that PS users would get the DLC early instead of XB, as it used to be. If anyone was going to lose money, all platforms would get DLC simultaneously.

ProJimmyRustler I really don't see this happening. Microsoft doesn't just let things like that go. Especially to Sony. If anything they would just get rid of the favoritism all together. Zombies gets ruined and sales get effected by releasing to one system early.

Why buy a DLC that has no secrets? (easter eggs)
By the time PC/Playstation gets it everything has been discovered.

This doesn't necessarily mean they're just 'letting it go'. Sony may be paying more for the privilege than MS would offer. Maybe Activision decided to drop MS from the deal and switch to Sony for whatever reason. It wouldn't be MS' decision to just get rid of it. Activision/Treyarch(or whoever) are producing the DLC and can sell early access to whoever they want to. Sales may be affected, but obviously not negatively if deals like this continue to happen. Zombies in no way gets "ruined" by this IMO, and can't see how you could possibly think that(obviously I welcome your reasoning, would be interesting to hear). As for people buying DLC without easter eggs, what's wrong with that? DLC isn't solely for easter eggs, it never was? It's about extra content not included with the game. Such as extra weapons, maps, textures, game modes etc etc, they do it with many games, not just CoD(obviously) and people still buy DLC, not just for easter eggs. Granted, if PS get it early, it may ruin the surprise of the new stuff for XB/PC users, but this can be easily avoided. Don't look at videos/posts about the DLC until you try it. Before you say "it's not that easy", it is, I done it for years when I played PS3.

-LOST- They should just release everything at the same time for everybody.

100% agree with this. No room for favouritism now-a-days, this just re-inforces console wars IMO which is pathetic.

Cods shit anyway, if they do end up getting dlc early they are wayyyy late. They should have did this back when cod was at its highest played. As of now cod is becoming less more and more fun and have not reached as many users played in a day than cod 4, waw, blops 1, blops 2, mw2. During these they should have done somthing not now as the series is old. I have both consoles and still reccomend a xbox one.

Doesn't really make a difference to me to be honest with you. A month isn't all that much of a wait anyway.

They might even give it to both consoles on the same month, instead of being idiots about it

Im fine with this. COD is going down the shitter
