Sony drops PlayStation TV price to £45 in the UK

4.7
Sony's PlayStation 4 is selling incredibly well, but an early price drop suggests its smaller cousin isn't doing so well in the UK. The PlayStation TV has always been a peculiar proposition, offering an easy way to play some, but not all PlayStation Vita, PSP and classic PSone games. Arguably its best feature is Remote Play, but £84.99 is a tough sell if you just want to stream PS4 games around the house. The mini-console has been available in the UK for a little over three months, but already Sony is dropping the price to £44.99.

It's a huge price cut, and one that likely reflects the console's muted reception. Would we recommend one now? Maybe, given the gizmo also comes with a voucher for three PlayStation Vita games. Until triple-A titles such as Tearaway, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush are supported though, you're probably better off saving your pennies.

Game_Splash This product wasn't really asked for so a solid consumer base would be very difficult to establish, especially for the price they are asking. These tiny gaming devices are over priced and unrequested/desirable items that console owners as a whole just aren't biting.

But if it actually had solid compatibility with the existing Vita games this thing would be so nice. It's just that Sony tried to have it be both a media device as well as a gaming device but it ended up being neither..

HarmfulMushroom For that price the console is not bad. For anything more though you might as well save your money. If it was an actual PS Vita with an HDMI port it might be, but this things compatibility is horrible. Netflix doesn't even work...

The price is pretty stupid aswell considering its pretty crap.

yeah Im surprised they did not drop the price of the thing a long time ago.

Eh, I bought it for $50 bundle when amazon had it marked down 50% off that one day. I honestly don't regret buying it for that price since it was basically you buying a DS3 controller at full price while getting the PS TV, a game and a memory card for free. If you buy an exploit game and put ARK/TN-V on it the console is pretty nice, anything else and it's not worth it at all.
