Valve makes change to Steam game trading

4.5
Thinking about picking up some games during the upcoming Winter Sale and trading some of those goodies for other games? Well you might want to hold on to that thought.

Valve announced via their Steam Trading Cards Group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tradingcards#announcements/detail/163582965920702191)

"All new games purchased as a gift and placed in the purchaser's inventory will be untradable for 30 days. The gift may still be gifted at any time. The only change is to trading.

We've made this change to make trading gifts a better experience for those receiving the gifts. We're hoping this lowers the number of people who trade for a game only to have the game revoked later due to issues with the purchaser's payment method."

This is possibly to combat the recent exploit of games being fraudulently purchased and traded to someone for another game that was legitimately purchased, leaving the person with the fraudulent game unable to play their newly trade goody.

Of course you will still be able to gift that newly bought game at anytime, but if you are looking to get so trading in you are going to need to wait that 30 day wait time until you can get bartering.

-Skittle Sounds like they're improving steam.

Eyebrow I might start playing steam. :)

Tend A 30 day wait time isn't that bad at all.

thanks for your helpful posts. :))))

This won't negatively affect me at all since I have no friends on steam : lmao, well at least none that I would do this with.

I haven't even heard about this type of scam until now, so yeah, it doesn't affect me haha

It's to stop people disputing payments an such, right? If so, I see no problem with this, there are scummy people around and Valve has to do what they can to stop that.

Potion This isn't bad, if you are gifting a game to someone you wouldn't be trading it to them anyway.

Exactly, I don't see the big deal in this then.

For safety purposes I suppose. Good implementation in my eyes. Good job.
