DayZ is coming to PlayStation 4

4.4
Modder turned developer Dean Hall took the stage at Sony's Gamescom presentation to announce an upcoming PlayStation 4 version of hit zombie survival sandbox DayZ. Details on the new version of the game are scant - Hall failed to mention a release date or even a vague window - but the PlayStation 4 game is based on an "entirely new cross-platform renderer" that will reportedly bring new, enhanced visuals to the undead apocalypse.

VIT Is it coming out on Xbox? I don't see why not.

I'm really hoping it comes out for Xbox One. Really enjoyed playing the game on PC.

Even on the 360 is great. the point is to be able to play with friends on xbox.

Yes, it will come out on Xbox one. Rocket (the developer) said in an interview a while back that the xbox one would be a great system to develop on.

Rocket is said to be leaving the DayZ dev team to work on a new project, which is sure to slow the progress towards an Xbox one AND PS4 release.

The game is going to be rebuilt from the ground up on a new engine, as the current one is quite broken. Zombies walk through walls, shadows dont work, and there is a lot of work to be done. Dont expect a release on either console for about 1-2 years.

All the more reason to get a PS4.

bigjoe2400TGG hahaha all the stupid xbox one owners dont get to play Dayz or planet side 2 their two best games while over at xbox one their playing dead rising hahaha so since you made a dumb choice first you will have to pay another 400 just for the system.

What a fanboy you are. I can play DayZ and Planet Side2 on my PC right now for free, so no I don't need to pay another 400 dollars. Us Xbox One owners are playing Dead Rising? There's PLENTY more Xbox One exclusives than that which you haven't mentioned because of your fanboism. You think because the PS4 can run a handful of games at a couple hundred pixels higher than the Xbox One, and that there's a few decent indie games coming to it, that it's the superior console? It's not. And it selling more units than the Xbox One doesn't make it superior either. The bottom line is the PS4 has sold more due to it's price. The One just recently adjusted down to match the PS4 and all you fanboys continue to rant how "lol ps4 better cus sold more and 1080p" like both consoles were the same price and were sold in the same markets and everything was 100% equal. So while you enjoy your sub-par PSN playing an old, glitch, unfinished indie game that's been on PC for years, I'll be enjoying my Xbox One exclusives on the second-to-none Xbox LIVE.

I hope the added pixels were worth it, because 120 more pixels isn't going to make a game more fun, nor is it going to get you Halo: Master Chief Collection, Quantum Break, Killer Instinct, Sunset Overdrive or Crackdown 3. Oh but by all means, enjoy your two dated Indies, I'm sure they'll be even more fun with the added pixels. ;)

As ignorant as his comment was, your argument has some weak points. 1080p versus 720p (or 900p) is not a "couple hundred pixels, even as a light PC gamer that should be common knowledge to you.

I love the whole pixel row cos its pointless imo. I have a pretty decent tele and all the games look good to me i dnt c the point of the obsession with 1080p games and no1 seems to pick up or care about the fact that most games focus so much on how tey look and dont seem to care how games play which is the real point. Id be more than happy wit a game at 720 that was amazing to play then 1080 that is average but pretty to look at

That's a pretty much a given thing.. Of course you would rather play the better game that looked a slight bit worse.

The whole 1080p vs 720p vs 900p vs 4k etc. argument is completely valid. There is a significant difference between them. Saying that there's barely a change between them is like the typical "you can't see more than 30/60 fps" circlejerk that console users seem to defend their platform with.
I would rather play a game on medium setting at 1080p than have ultra at 720p.

The 30 vs 60 fps is in a whole different league than 1080 vs 900/720p. You can't compare a game looking better on a 40' TV to how smooth and responsive a game is, they don't have equal importance. If there was a cross-plat game coming out for the One and the PS4, and the One ran it at 30FPS and the PS4 ran it at 60FPS, the PS4 would win, hands down. If the One was outputting @ native 1440p and the PS4 was outputting @ native 720p, the PS4 would still win. Anyone using a PS4 would have a huge advantage over anyone using the One. FPS differences affect gameplay, pushing extra pixels to an HDTV doesn't. Yeah higher resolution looks better on a big screen, but I'd accept 60FPS @ 720p over 1080p @ 30FPS any time of the day. Isn't that what #PCMasterRace kiddies constantly gloat about? "GG console peasants with your 30fps potatoes" amirite? Then I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at.

Now, onto your pixels = better looking game argument. While this is true, it's.. not. Yeah more pixels = tighter pixel compression = things look more clear, BUT does not = the game looks good. COD 4 @ 1080p is still COD 4, it just looks more clear on an HDTV, or decent monitor. Now turn the graphic settings down to low, no shadows, AA/MSAA, V-Sync, impacts etc and the game looks pretty bad right? Oh but it's running in 1080p, so it should look good right? No. A bad looking game running at a high resolution doesn't magically make it look good. I would rather play a game at high settings @ 720p than a game at medium settings @ 1080p. That's like eating at a diner with fine china vs eating at a fancy restaurant with normal silverware. Yeah the plate at the diner may be pretty, but the food is still mediocre, and a fancy plate isn't going to change that. It's almost like you're being a PC elitist and throwing logic out the window, unless you truly do believe a game running at medium settings @ 1080p looks better than a maxed out game at 720p, in which case I suggest you visit an optometrist.

Oh and btw, 1080p vs 4k is like comparing night and day, where as 1080p vs 720p is like comparing how light it is outside from 1pm to 3pm. You really shouldn't go to those extremes when making an argument, it shows how desperate you are to force your elitism to us "console peasants".

I wasn't bringing in the FPS to compare in relation to resolution. You've brought that up... At no point did I say I want 30@1080 instead of 60@720 or anything of the like.

I had said the comparison; comparing 30-60fps is like comparing 720p to 1080p. Saying there is barely a difference is simply wrong.

Trying to attack me on the whole "elitist" and "#PCMR" front is simply wrong.
I've used games at Ultra@720p and Medium@1080p and will confirm that my point is correct. Why else would I have said it?!
Take a look at Metro: Last Light, for example. Beforehand, I had been using my old 6670 which was unable to run it at ultra and 1080p. I had changed between the two and medium@1080p looks far better than ultra@720p.

4K was a relevant thing to bring in because of the mass amount of people that say "you don't need 4K, 1080p is good enough!!!"
Sure, my old CRT monitor was good enough but why would I use that instead of my current one?
Your point is actually agreeing with my original post here so I don't see what you are trying to get at..

I'm not forcing my "elitism" upon anyone, nor am I desperate to.
You can enjoy your platform, I can enjoy mine. At no point do I steer anywhere near anything about it. That's just you being on the offensive for no apparent reason.
