Xbox Live July Games with Gold Announced

4.3
Earlier in the year, Microsoft proudly announced that their free Games with Gold program for Xbox Live subscribers would be rolling out to Xbox One users -- and in June, the console received its first series of games, including 'Halo: Spartan Assault' (and a set of new offerings for Xbox 360 users, like 'Dark Souls' and 'Max: The Curse of Brotherhood'). Now, Microsoft is swapping out its free games for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and tossing in some popular titles on both platforms to boot.

Xbox One users will only get one new game in July: 'Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition' is available starting on July 1st, and it will replace last month's offering of 'Halo: Spartan Assault'. 'Guacamelee!' is an action platformer where you play as a "humble agave farmer" turned luchador from Mexico who tries to save the president's daughter after she is kidnapped by a marauding skeleton horseman. Since only one new game is being offered for Xbox One users, last month's free game, 'Max: The Curse of Brotherhood', is still available for free download until the end of July.

Xbox 360 users will receive two new free games this month: On July 1st, 'Gotham City Impostors' will be available for download. The game is a multiplayer FPS set in the DC universe, with a range of customizable character features. On July 15th, Xbox 360 users can download 'BattleBlock Theater', a highly acclaimed block-based platformer from The Behemoth, who are most famously known for developing 'Alien Hominid' and 'Castle Crashers'.

Although Xbox One owners may be be disappointed that they'll only receive one new game this month, hopefully Microsoft will begin expanding its catalog of Xbox One games significantly enough to offer a full range of free games in the coming months.

BattleBlock Theater was a really fun game if you want to just sit around and play a casual game. I would advise people to get it when it becomes free.

Gotham City Imposters is rather disappointing, considering you can play it free on PC. Battleblock theater is a good one though.

Same game for Xbox One. Seriously? Who wants to play Max.. (But a free game is still a free game, I understand.) Was hoping for Peggle or Outlast.

Xavi Wish they would actually give out a really great game for free. I mean, sure. It's free, so I can't really complain, but everything has been pretty stale apart from a select few (Games such as Halo 3, GoW and Saints Row 3 from the top of my head) have actually been worth downloading. It would be amazing if they did games people would actually play. The likes of CoD 4/Waw/MW2 and DiRT (1, 2 or 3) come to mind. Those are the types of games you could actually play without getting bored pretty quickly, which is what's happening with a lot of the free games atm. But hey, that's just my opinion.

So you're saying they should just release games that you want, right? Cause I can't think of a single person I know what would want DiRT or MW2.

(Btw, they'd more than likely never do CoD since Activision is greedy and would rather make profit instead of making people happy.)
