PS4 adds PayPal payment in North America

4.4
North American PS4 users can now add funds to their PlayStation Store accounts using PayPal.

PayPal support adds more options for players who may not have access to a credit card but would rather not make trips to the store for PSN gift cards.

Sony detailed the process in an email sent out to PS4 owners - users simply select "add funds" during checkout, select the "PayPal" option and log into their account if need be, select the amount of fund to add, and continue to complete checkout. More details are available on Sony's support site.

PlayStation 3 received direct PayPal support in November 2013. Users were previously required to transfer funds from PayPal to their PSN accounts using a PC.

Sony has confirmed its lineup of games set to appear at E3 next week, including Driveclub, The Order 1886, and dozens more titles.

Be sure to read what we think Sony needs to show at its E3 2014 press conference to maintain its early lead in the new-gen console race.

I suppose it's a good idea, but everyone needs to stop using one company to make all of their online payments.

It's been on Xbox for years

Where? On console or on the computer? I've never seen any other option besides points (now money) or credit card.

On both, I recently bought Titanfall with it

This was always a feature, they just implemented it on the PS4. There is no direct purchase via paypal, you have to add 5, 10, 25, 50, etc to your wallet before purchasing.
The "select the amount of fund to add" portion of this article means the same thing, you're going to be selecting from a set of predetermined values, not the exact value you need.

Xbox allows you to purchase with paypal. Playstation allows you to fund your wallet in pre-determined values via paypal. There is a difference, an annoying difference.
