Starting in June XBL Gold subs can request a refund

4.6
Microsoft has announced that they intent to start providing refunds to those who are currently paid Xbox Live Gold subscribers and wish to revert to gold if they only use entertainment applications now not behind the golden paywall. Gamers who wish to cancel and get a refund have until August 31st 2014 to ask Microsoft for a return on their membership.

Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends,” reads the updated FAQ.

Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.Microsoft

This actually seems like a good idea. Now, if only people don't abuse it and get it removed.

-Effy So, I dont really get why youd do this? Are they saying youd be able to continue watching netflix n such or cancel it all the way? Is there a difference to an Xbox Live Gold subscriber and just gold?

After they made Netflix and hulu plus not behind the pay wall of having to have Gold membership they are asking people if they want a refund if watching Netflix was there sole purpose of getting Gold.

I like this. Sony should do this too, except it'd be for Playstation Plus.

It's nice that MS are doing this :D

Than theirs people that buy it just to use the apps, which isn't fair.

Pretty sure Phil Spencer is behind this and other recent changes in favor of the community. Don't thank Micrsoft, shoot him a tweet @XboxP3 and let him know personally how you feel about these changes so he sees what an impact he is making on a more personal level.
