Minecraft update 1.8 terrain generator shown in video

4.7
Mojang has released a new Minecraft video offering an early look at new environment creation tools coming as part of update 1.8.

The new options will allow users to generate their own worlds with a large selection of parameters, which can result in some extremely bizarre landscapes, as the video below demonstrates.

As Mojang explains, "There are 16 sliders which can be used to affect various aspects of Minecraft's terrain generator, but you can also type in values directly. You also have complete control over things like the sea level and what structures you want to generate."

It adds, "We've also supplied a set of seven presets that we think players will find interesting, including a world made of water up to the top of the map, and the return of floating islands."

There's currently no set release date for Update 1.8.

It was recently confirmed that a retail edition of Minecraft on PS3 will launch on Wednesday May 14 in Europe. Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft are also currently in development.

Might make a return to Minecraft again once this comes out. It's been a while since I've played Minecraft on my PC so I have no clue what I have missed out on, but with these type of customizations, I would go back to see what I can get with my worlds.

I really like how in the trailer there's no unnecessary music and commentary like you get with console AAA games; just showing off the features.

I really love how they're adding more customization to Minecraft like this. I mostly play on console but it makes me want to scream "PC master race!"

Striker They keep making this game even better, feel bad for the console players.

Console is nothing compared to PC MC.
