Xbox One griefers may have Twitch privileges taken away

4.5
When Microsoft revealed its reputation system for Xbox One in July, it sought to match the worst members of the gaming community with one another based on a long-term gauge of their behavior in online games. Now, the console manufacturer will begin issuing warnings for those that fall into the "Needs Work" category of players following feedback from other members of the community. In an Xbox Wire blog, Microsoft said, "these warnings are based on community feedback collected since Xbox One launched," so bad reports from others shouldn't take effect from just a few weeks of play.

While Microsoft plans to "introduce rewards for good behavior," the more noteworthy course of action applies to the bottom-tier of the community. Those that fall into the "Avoid Me" category will see penalties on their account, such as "reduced matchmaking pairings" and restrictions on other Xbox Live functions, such as the ability to use "certain privileges such as Twitch broadcasting." Microsoft clarified in September that Xbox 360 reputation scores don't carry over to Xbox One.

Seriously? "Punishing," "Penalties," "Rewards."

They're treating their customers like children, or even dogs. I mean, a good majority of xbox players ARE children, given that, but if those kids choose to be dicks online, it's up to the parents to set them straight or not. Microsoft shouldn't interfere with that. Not to mention it can totally ruin someone online who is 18 or older like myself. I bought my own Xbone, and I feel like if I want to swear, or even be a dick online, then that's my right since it is my property. If people don't like that, then there is a mute or block option. No need for the company to get out a paddle and start spanking their customers. I'm sure they could be doing much more with the time spent on that.

-CP I always got bad rep because in SnD I would try hard with my headset and soundwhore. This may bring me down in the future.....

I think the longer someone plays with you the higher chance they have at affecting your rep. Also saying that am I the only one who has less than a 26% Disapproval rating?

I think thats stupid that they would do that.

Maybe the children will stop being annoying now.

platyui This is so dumb. Most people give you a bad rep because you are better than them at the game.

Exactly. 50% of people on XBL avoided me for trash talking when I'm always in party chat and when I'm in game chat I mute the randoms or don't talk.

Same here. I'm 73% avoided. All I play is SnR with my friend and we go into private chat.
