Microsoft says 1080p Xbox One games will become more common

4.7
The Xbox One will eventually be host to a much larger number of 1080p games, according to a senior member of the Xbox team.

Xbox director of development Boyd Multerer told OXM he "fully" expects more developers to hit 1080p over time, saying: "The [graphics processing units] are really complicated beasts this time around."

Multerer said that as developers learn the ins and outs of the Xbox One hardware, they will eventually be able produce far better looking games.

"The hardware is basically baked," he said, "and what comes next is people discovering better software techniques to take advantage of it, especially in the ordering of the data so it flows through all the caches correctly, and I think there's a lot of opportunity there."

He also claimed the developers of Xbox One launch titles didn't have a lot of time to tweak their games and get them 1080p ready in time for launch.

"Once these engines - the engine developers like Frostbyte and those guys - they really wrap their heads around this particular GPU architecture, then all of the titles coming out of that studio will take advantage of it and get better," he said.

However, Multerer was also quick to state that resolution isn't everything. "Part of it is learning how to tune, part of it is I think a very legitimate question of quality of pixels versus number of pixels, and of course both are interesting."

A number of multiplatform games have rendered at a higher resolution on PS4 than Xbox One since the two consoles released in November 2013, including high profile release like Call of Duty Ghosts and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. And some Microsoft platform exclusives like Titanfall have also failed to launch at 1080p.

Invictus I really can't tell the big difference and I have both next gen consoles.

I'm in the same boat, going between my ps4 and xbox one, I can't notice any real difference. But what I do notice is that ps4 crashes most of the times I look at or hover over the party screen, and I haven't had any software hiccups on xbox yet.

Deranged
-Visionary- Now PS4 users can't say **** about 1080p.

All i have to say to playstation scrubs is

1.) its barely even noticeable between them (but they can have their minuscule win)

2.) wheres your cloud storage/computing

3.) wheres your dedicated servers preventing host advantage and host migration

4.) wheres your amazing games/exclusives

While I can't say I care about either of the first two points.
counter to 3) Select games have dedicated servers (Titanfall) while others still use peer (Cod) system despite statements.
counter to 4) While Xbone does have Titanfall (not really exclusive seeing as it's on PC but i guess we can include these games too then) and Dead Rising; Here's a brief list of F2P games on PS4 (PC and upcoming too), War Thunder, Warframe, Planetside 2, DC Universe, Blacklight Retribution (pretty similar in concept to Titanfall), and Deep Down. Also for AAA titles, coming out is Infamous Second Sun plus there's already KillZone ShadowFall. Ryse and Knack pretty much knock each other out due to poor reviews and repetitious gameplay.
We could even go into other arcade titles only listed for PC and PS4 alone too such as Outlast but hey, there's a ton of titles for you to swallow right here so I'll let you breathe.

-3D Don't see why they're not common now anyway to be honest :/

Being a new console, a lot of developers weren't fully aware as to what it could output at so easily, 1080p is easy as pie for the hardware in Xbox One. It was just a matter of actually figuring that out that's stopped current releases.

On point though, Games should already be developing in 1080p for people with computers. It's silly to make graphics need upscaling.
