Steam - Developers now able to self discount their games

4.6
It has came to light that developers can now enable sales for their games on the Steam platform without consulting Valve itself as was required in the past.

According to a developer on the steam subreddit via Valve's private Steamworks community page, it appears developers are now to perform sales anytime. In the past developers have been required to coordinate with Valve in order to set up weekly promotions for their products. Currently all developers need to do is configure their Steamworks page for the title in question to enable discounts for possible customers. Though it was added for developers today it appears that the system is not 100% working as some devs have spoken out publicly that they themselves have experienced error with the feature set.

How do you feel about developers being able to perform sales on the fly?

Axe I guess its a good thing that they can choose when their own products go on sale.
It is a good thing but some developers will abuse it as Jamy said before. I think that the big development companies will really bump up the prices just to do many sales to make the customer buy more but the small, 1-10 person development groups, they will treat the customer right and do some neat sales more often unlike the big guys.

This will definitely bring a lot of profit for steam, and it's going to be beneficial for us as well.
