Xbox One is “uncapped”, according to Phil Harrison

4.5
The Xbox One is up and running and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison is excited about what the future holds for Redmond’s newest console.

“When you’ve been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like,” Harrison told OXM. “The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you’d be amazed at the difference. It’s a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with.”

Harrison credits the Xbox One’s flexibility of the cloud and that its potential will be unlocked over time.

“Crucially this time around, there’s the power of the cloud and what that means for game design,” he said. “That can grow and scale indefinitely – of course there is a practical limit but in effect you’re uncapped. And I think, from a player’s perspective, that’s the most exciting part; that it’s not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it’s about what the platform will provide you with over time. We’ve not had that in a console generation before.”

In addition to Game DVR, SmartGlass and Kinect integration, Harrison said that there were five other features in Microsoft’s pipeline ready to come out.

Debris Microsoft needs to stop lying about the cloud. The fact is, current internet speeds cant truly utilize cloud computing, the cloud can only do very little in the way of lighting and ai. Technology isn't ready for true cloud computing.

No it's called you are a Playstation fanboy and always have been so your brain can't contemplate the awesome things that Microsoft is doing. Lol

Actually i owned an xbox 360, hated Sony last gen. Now i own both next gen consoles, I am by no means a Sony fanboy.
I'm just trying to help you guys out, Microsoft shoves lies down your throat and you just keep on taking it, i back up what I say with facts, you just yell at others.

The Xbox 1 is a fine console, but there is just certain things graphically that it will never attain.

thats the good thing about the cloud. Its there and ready to be used once internet speeds catch up. Sure it might not be viable right now but in a couple years it will be. And im sure MS will find a way to make it more usable with slower speeds. Also it isn't lies what MS is saying, this is what CAN be done with it, not necessarily what WILL be done with it.

I really don't like the Xbox One. No offence to everyone who owns one, I had mine for 2 days I still preferred playing my 360. No matter what they add on, 360 will always be my baby. (Unless they are awesome enough to find out time travel)

I am wondering what the other five features that are ready to come out going to be...

HOF I suggest a price drop. I cant afford to pay $500 for a console.

Then you're not getting it. They aren't doing a price drop anytime soon.

$468 to build it. $500 retail. That means... They're earning a $32 profit.

The true profit isn't made of the console itself, it's the subscriptions and dlc, that's where most of the revenue is made.

Wow, hate much from a kid with a sore bum. What Debris is talking about is true, DRM would have at least been a step towards the right process but with internet like it is and the monopoly it lies in with the few companies that control most of it, we're not gonna see high enough speeds to due things in real time.
@Dragify, just GTFO because Debris isn't even mentioning anything about Sony or PSN, he has absolutely no sway in the matter except that he is calling out Micro$oft. There isn't just a clear line in the sand between who is a what side fanboy, most people have one or the either console but also some have both consoles.

Stop talking out of your ass. Microsoft knows what they're doing.
It's actually possible.

I am really enjoying the console so far and I love the fact that I do stuff without a controller
