Playstation 4 owners will have "great surprises" in 2014, says Sony

4.5
Playstation UK Managing Director Fergal Gara said a number of "gems" will be released on the next generation console in 2014 that will "push the boundaries".

He also revealed it will take "a couple of months" for supply levels to be able to meet demand for the console which is sold out at many retailers.

Speaking exclusively to the Express Online, Mr Gara said: "All of our major studios are working on PS4 content. These guys are experimenting with and working on the new platform.

"They may not have announced games specifically but our big studio network is focused primarily on PS4.

"Their heritage is fantastic and it is a great platform to develop for. So I am looking forward to some great surprises and amazing experiences.

"There are going to be some real gems."

Mr Gara pinpointed racing game Drive Club, action adventure inFAMOUS Second Son and shooter The Order 1886 as titles for gamers to look forward to in 2014.

He also said the eagerly anticipated sandbox game Watch Dogs and Destiny, from the creators of Halo, as games that will showcase the power of next generation consoles.

He said: "Two titles which will define what next generation gaming will look in its mature phase will be Watch Dogs and Destiny.

"These are two games we have aligned with closely and will have substantial exclusive Playstation 4 content."

A new Unchartered title has been announced recently and Mr Gara said that would be a "big" game for PS4 owners to look forward to.

The latest chapter in the best selling action series has yet to receive a release date.

The PS4 launched in the UK and went onto becoming the fastest selling console in history.

Two days after its European launch on Friday November 29 it was revealed the console had sold 2.1 million units worldwide.

Mr Gara said it was frustrating for consumers that it is difficult to get hold of a PS4 at the moment but Sony were "delighted" with the console's success.

Mr Gara added PS4 owners will see titles released next year that truly show the graphical power of the next generation console.

He said: "Gamers can look forward to seeing publishers really push the boundaries of what this great machine can do.

"Really stretching the technology a lot more than we have already seen."

VPN Well we PS4 gamers have something to look forward, yet Xbox fans don't know what's coming up.

All Xbox fans are going to say is "Titan Fall" And "Cloud Computing" If the cloud is so powerful how come Deadrising 3 can only achieve 24 struggle frames.

Titanfall, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, Project Spark, Dark Dreams Don't Die, Halo.

I think the Xbox One has plenty of fantastic exclusives coming up in 2014 and that's not adding the third party games available as well.

Azure's power hasn't been shown yet. You can't seriously expect full capabilities on day one. Dead Rising 3 received a day one patch to correct those frame rate issues. If you would've experienced the game instead of just believing every thing you read on the internet, you would realize that is not the case.

Call of Duty: Ghosts was having frame rate issues on the PlayStation 4 and running at 720p before it got patched. See the picture here?

Ghosts is still having frame drops on PS4, complete sh!t game. BF4 is where its at. Graphics on PS4 are better than XbOne but some people prefer XbOne because they've had an Xbox 360 for years and can't switch fan base.

I don't really compare Call of Duty: Ghosts to Battlefield 4, because even though they are military shooters they play differently. It's like comparing a RPG to a MMORPG. While I would never recommend Battlefield over Call of Duty on the last generation consoles due to the outdated hardware. PlayStation 4/Xbox One/PC Battlefield is a lot more fun to play.

I had the PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 4 and I ended up switching it for the Xbox One version, because even though the DualShock 4 is a fantastic improvement over the DualShock 3 the triggers don't feel right and the rumble feedback and the bigger triggers offered by the Xbox One controller makes the experience even better in my opinion.

I own both Xbox one and PS4. Halo is a game that has been rehashed way too many times, the only good halos were 2 and 3. Quantum break hasn't been shown yet but it looks to be a good game i garntee it won't be better than uncharted. be honest Project spark doesn't even look Fun, Sunset overdrive was cool and i haven't seen don't die.

Azures power should have been shown on day one
Seeing as its cloud computing its possible to use it on day one and it is being used.
Cloud computing won't do anything for garbage hardware.
And every time i get into these debates all i hear is "cloud" so don't use it if you don't know its power.
You never know just like you said the power hasn't been shown but there might not be any power!

COD Ghosts is garbage and even with frame drops it still looks better on PS4
BF4 looks clearer on PS4 little to no jagged edges
Deeper textures and Clarity.

Xbox one is not as good as PS4.

Halo is a fantastic universe, every main game (Halo: CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: Reach, Halo 4 - released about 3 years apart, except the last one) had a great story line. I can't speak for the multiplayer portion (Reach/Halo 4) but great games none the less. The Halo series have been around for a quite a bit of time (2002) and there is a expanded universe with books, movies, webisodes. You just see it as a "generic" first person shooter. I'm gladly welcoming Halo 5 and looking forward to the story.

Quantum Break is looking fantastic and there is gameplay footage around, Google is your friend. Won't be better than Uncharted? Solving puzzles searching for treasure vs controlling time and time traveling. Two different type of games chief.

Project Spark doesn't look fun? Just because you may not have a creative mind doesn't mean the game will be bad. Game looks fantastic, cross-compability (Windows, 360, Xbox One), no Xbox LIVE Gold required to play it and you can use all sorts of things. It's looking to be a very ambitious game.

I agree with you, they should've shown more of Azure's power but it's very limited to what we have seen in action (Forza 5's Drivatars, which are really fun). It hasn't been two months yet, great things will be coming to both platforms and I expect Azure to eventually deliver as developers get more time with the hardware and services.

On your statement with Call of Duty: Ghosts, the logic behind it is so bad. So it's better to have constant frame rate issues with slightly better graphics than a smooth experience?

Battlefield 4 looks fantastic on the PlayStation 4, but the minor improvement is not enough to be mind blown. Like I mentioned in a previous post, the Xbox One controller offers larger triggers and the rumble feedback, better suit my needs. Triggers on the DualShock 4 greatly improved over DualShock 3, but still small in my opinion.

PlayStation 2 was underpowered compared to the GameCube and the Xbox, but it was the king of the consoles back then as well. Do you know why? It had a fantastic library of games. As of this moment, I'm more excited about the exclusives coming up for the Xbox One. Sony will eventually deliver, but at this point they had a disappointing launch. Resogun was the only decent game out for it right now in my opinion.

I doubt you have a Xbox One, you wouldn't have bought "garbage" hardware right. Be a gamer, not a fanboy.

you have some really good points, i personally cannot wait for project spark, it looks incredibly fun because the basis around that game is what im going for in a career, and although very basic, this game is giving me the fundementals ill need to be a game designer

Not sure if trolling or just stupid.

The article said "Two titles which will define what next generation gaming will look in its mature phase will be Watch Dogs and Destiny."

Sony isn't even confident in their exclusives. Watch Dogs and Destiny will be on XO as well, so why don't we have anything to look forward too? On top of that we get Titanfall. Something you PS4 owners wanted to come to PS4 so badly, but when they announced it was staying console exclusive to Microsoft y'all were like "OHHH IT'S NOT THAT GOOD OF A GAME ANYWAYS, IT LOOKS BAD."

Are you like 12? So quick to label people.... For all you know this guy could have both consoles, but feel to continue to be a useless fanboy and act like the true troll here.
