Xbox One to have unlimited cloud storage

4.6
Microsoft's gaming console, the Xbox One, has now had yet another new feature revealed: unlimited cloud storage.

It's no secret that Microsoft has one of the most powerful cloud services with Azure, SkyDrive and other products and services, and the cloud is being used extensively with the Xbox One to power some of the computing and rendering processes, but that's not all. Another lesser-known use of the cloud for the device is that it can be utilized as an extension of the hard drive, storing and retrieving game data.

While this feature is not an entirely new one as it existed previously on the Xbox 360 with the caveat that it could only store game data and achievements due to being limited to 512 MB of storage, it does come with some drastic changes on the One. A few of them include the storage limit being upped to infinity, and the file types being stored becoming more diversified. The release by Microsoft reads as follows;

Xbox Live offers Xbox One unlimited storage space in the cloud for all Xbox Live members to store numerous types of Xbox Live content, including your profile, games, Achievements and entertainment. This content is stored and saved in the cloud so you can automatically access it anywhere, anytime, no matter where you are

Previous generation Xbox users had to subscribe to an Xbox Live Gold account to be able to make use of this feature, Microsoft has now stated that this service will now be available for all users whether Gold or Silver.

Is it bad that that sounds extremely extremely likely.

This would be very nice if I could save on both cloud and the hard drive. If my internet decides to die, I don't want to be stuck until it comes back on. I would like it to be on the cloud though just in case I want to delete stuff off of my hard drive or just in case my Xbox breaks (since the hard drive is not replaceable.) I like to be safe on both ends. Infinite cloud storage is pretty amazing though.

Dragify If the game developers utilize cloud storage into there games we could see the Xbox one having more advanced and better games than Pc. Now its just wait and see if they will they or not.

No.. PC is already doing this with Nvidia shield.. It is just a dumbed down version (GRAPHICALLY). They arent going to be able to process Tesselation, FXAA, SMAA, ETC from the cloud for EVERY Xbone.. PLease, know what you are saying before you say it. The clous is only as powerful as a users DL/UL speed, A GPU is hardware and you arent bottlenecked by Internet speed. Also, Using the cloud to process game data constantly is gonna suck for people who have capped bandwith from their ISP

Good, now when i run out of my 500GB HDD i can have a backup plan and not have to buy shortie usbs. Plus! Did anyone else know that the way xbox one is being made MS will only have to upload a few more servers and instantly have graphics, games, firmware, everything updated without having to download anything. It's mostly cloud powered anyway. I think that's great on MS's part!
