Xbox One bundles to release in summer 2014 without Kinect – report

4.5
Xbox One bundles will be made available in summer 2014 without Kinect, according to an anonymous course speaking with Machinima’s Inside Gaming.

The source told the site there will be two bundles made available: a standard bundle without Kinect, and a budget version containing an Xbox One with a smaller hard drive to undercut the price of PS4.

Inside Gaming notes, rightly, that such a report contradicts Microsoft’s assertion that the console won’t function without Kinect installed. If it will work without the camera, this means the launch bundles are a ploy to get Kinect in the homes of early adopters.

Xbox One will release this November at a price point of around $500 – give or take depending on retailer.

R2-D2 I don't think it will happen. Why not put that option out in the first place, so we have a choice. And now, they are saying "by the way, you don't have to have a kinect connected anymore".

They want sales for the kinect

Do you still have to have the Kinect hooked up to play? I will buy it if you don't have to use the Kinect at all, I've never used Kinect and the Eye, nor will I ever.

Why not just take the Kinect away from the console, now?

Also I would buy one with a low HDD and go buy my own personal terabyte hardrive from bestbuy to use with the xbox, if thats possible.

So the without Kinect bundle will still be more expensive then the PS4. It only said the lower HDD on will be cheaper.

if MS took the kinect away then they would have more sales.

So I guess I'll reconsider an Xbox one in about one year from now then. Until then the PS4 still looks like a better product at the moment, (based on the personal opinion of a former Xbox fan boy).

ExoticWolfs That will be cool to have one without the kinect for ones who don't want the kinect, but I doubt they will do this. They are already making great sales the way it is, so I don't see why they would do this, until a later date.

Damn, accidentally pressed submit when I didn't mean to. So let me fix my mistakes... I think you will always have to have the kinect in for the console to work, so I don't see this happening. And they are making good sales this way, and I think they will be making good sales in 2014 the way it already is, so they will probably keep it this way. They already said they are planning to lower the price in 2014, so I think that is the only thing they will do, besides maybe making a smaller hard-drive.

I think they're just release a 250GB for $450 and maybe one without Kinect for $300
