'Up to 300 Time Warner live TV channels' coming to Xbox 360 in the US

4.7
Time Warner has entered into a partnership with Microsoft and is to launch an app on Xbox 360 later this year that provides "up to 300" Live TV channels to the system.

The Time Warner Cable TV app will give Xbox Live Gold subscribers access to channels including AMC, BBC World News, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNN, Comedy Central, Food Network and HGTV. A subscription to the network (which currently starts at $65 per year) will be necessary.

Microsoft says that the service, which aligns the Xbox 360 with the features available on Xbox One, will be exclusive to the US.

"TWC TV is a significant addition to Xbox 360, bringing our customers their favourite entertainment in one place-enhanced TV experience, games, movies, music, sports and entertainment apps," said Blair Westlake, corporate vice president of media at Microsoft.

"Our partnership with TWC enhances all that is available on Xbox 360 today, which will we continue expand. We're thrilled to offer TWC TV to US Xbox Live members and Time Warner Cable subscribers."

Mike Angus, senior vice president and general manager of video for Time Warner Cable added: "We look forward to introducing TWC TV to Xbox 360 and providing customers with this new viewing experience within the home. We are very excited about Microsoft's vision for entertainment and the vast possibilities Xbox offers."

On-demand entertainment will be a central focus of Microsoft's Xbox One. The console is designed to be connected directly into a cable box allowing users to watch video content and play games at the same time.

Microsoft has officially announced an Xbox One release date window of November 2013 in 21 markets and a price of £429 / $499 / €499.

Whoever posted this didn't post the full release. Time Warner wil require you to either have one of their set top boxes or DVR's for this feature to work. Plus, it'll only work with certain cable plans. So, there is a catch to this. Your Xbox One will not act as a set top box unless it has Time Warner's set top sitting right next to it. Google this release yourself for the full details.

In fact, here are the details for you: http://tv.yahoo.com/news/tw-cable-streams-live-tv-xbox-still-requires-170906854.html

Ing Pretty good i guess, are they going to release it anywhere else?

I doubt it, America basically has control of everything. U.K might get it, other countries wont tho. Very unfair indeed.

AwesomeSauce69 It's a games console. Whats with all this pointless stuff

I'm guessing it's for more money now. When they showed the TV for Xbox One at the reveal that killed it for me but I'm still getting the Xbox One.

Why does it matter, yes they are a business so why is it so questionable that they would do something for more money and improve. Honestly i am only home when my parents are and they control the TV, so this will be very nice. Goodbye netflix :)

Have you never thought of watch tv on your laptop?

-Mark $65 a year on top of the gold subscription.

They gotta be crazy if they think anyone is going to do that.

Well you don't have to buy it. I'm not going to buy it that's for sure. I'll stick with my TV that I hardly watch.

$65 if was too steep in my opinion i don't really watch much TV anyway so i highly doubt that i'm going to do this

Price isn't the issue for me it's I just simply don't watch TV that much at all. I wouldn't use it on the Xbox One either. The only true time I watch TV is when I'm off the computer and relaxing.

This is more for the people who scrap their cable and just use Xbox to wathc TV if they ever do

i only watch on my laptop, i rarely use the tv but i will never use the Xbox nor will buy it

all they focused on the xbox one was really t.v , kinda annoying .

They focused on mainly TV at the announcement event. At the E3 press conference they talked about the games though, If you haven't watched it i suggest you do. I don't think TV is a very bad idea yet i feel that it is aimed towards a different market than gamers.
