Nintendo Switch Battery Takes 3 Hours to Fully Charge

4.8
According to a page on Nintendo’s Japanese website, it takes 3 hours to fully charge the Nintendo Switch battery. The non-removable 4310mAh rechargeable 3.7V Lithium-ion battery can be charged via the dock or USB type-C adapter. While the battery in itself is rather formidable, the fact that the Switch will be running games at 1280 x 720 means that more labor intensive games are going to drain the battery quicker than many would like. For example, a session of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on an undocked Nintendo Switch has been reported to last around three hours, perhaps even dropping down to 2.5 hours. This means that the Nintendo Switch battery could take longer to reach a full charge than it does to drain that charge during gameplay, in some instances.

Luckily, it has also been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch battery can be charged on the go via a USB type-C adapter, similar to the cables you probably use to charge your phones and laptops. The undocked Switch, if used to play something a little less full-on than Breath of the Wild, could last as long as 6 hours. What do you think of this information? Is the fact that the charge time can be longer than the play time disappointing news? Or is 3 hours enough, considering the battery can also be topped up when out and about? This isn't bad I wouldn't take mine out of the house enough for it to be a problem mainly for long waits or car rides if I am not driving

It takes me 3-4 hours to fully charge my Xbox One controller because my play and charge kit is broke but I still get well over 6 hours of playtime on it.

Forest People complaining about charge times have to take in consideration the battery is meant to last a full generation, and the way to stop batteries from degrading so fast is by slowly charging the battery. The faster you charge the battery, the faster the cells will degrade which turns into less battery life.

I never knew that. Thanks for that information.

This better make the Nintendo last for awhile, As in days. If it doesn't it wouldn't be worth a 3 hour charge for a little thing like that.

Well that means itd be best playing this while on the charger lol.

With a charge like that it better last days.

3 hours?! That's horrible. I can barely do a boss fight in FFXV in 3 hours.
