Switch UI close up, Cave Story and 1001 Spikes ports shown

Switch fans are enjoying the fruits of an apparent publisher error today.

The Binding of Isaac publisher Nicalis seems to have have mistakenly tweeted an image of the Switch UI ahead of Nintendo’s reveal schedule.

The publisher posted an image of a Switch to its Twitter feed earlier today, showing The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+, Cave Story and 1001 Spikes, as well as the system’s UI.

Its intention seems to have been to announce the Switch ports of Cave Story and 1001 Spikes, which join The Binding of Isaac on Switch, but the tweet was rapidly deleted. NeoGAF got a copy of the photo before it went down, though.

It’s likely Nicalis broke a Nintendo NDA by showing the Switch’s system UI, as we’re yet to get a good look at it. Nintendo did show the menu off very briefly during its Treehouse presentations last week, but the version seen in the deleted tweet is different.

There are several reasons Nintendo might not want us to see the Switch UI just yet. With over a month to go until Switch launch day, it’s entirely possible the UI is still being honed and as such anything it shows now may be subject to change.

Additionally, developers often work with pre-release hardware and firmware, so again, whatever a studio might show would be subject to change. Video game industry PR really hates showing off non-final builds.

So don’t take this image as indicative of just how the final Switch UI will look. The interest in it clearly demonstrates there’s a hunger for more information on the Switch, which should please Nintendo.

It wasn't a mistake companies do it to build hype for the product if it was someone would be in real trouble.
