The Last of Us: Part 2 announced at PSX

4.5
Despite the Xbox 360 outselling the PlayStation 3, many gamers were convinced late into the console’s lifespan to purchase Sony’s machine for one very good reason: The Last of Us.

Following two unlikely companions - Ellie and Joel - in a post-apocalyptic world, players were led through an emotional story, filled with twists and turns, and given a bittersweet ending.

Despite the game’s popularity, Naughty Dog remained tight-lipped over a possible sequel: only Uncharted writer Josh Scherr spoke about a possible sequel, and that was by accident.

At Sony’s Playstation Experience, however, that all changed as Part II was finally officially confirmed to be happening with both Ellie and Joel.

While the game won’t likely be released until late 2018 (and that’s being optimistic) creative director Neil Druckmann has spoken about who player’s will control in game.

“Joel was the star in the first, Ellie is the star in this one,” Druckmann told an audience when speaking about the game. “Ellie plays differently from Joel.”

Other games announced at the Playstation Experience include Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, a remaster/remake of the first Crash Bandicoot games, and Ni No Kuni 2.

This is good news I wish they would have waited longer to announce it because now were all hyped up

That's crappy, have to wait now until 2018 for this game. I was getting hyped to get the game as well.

Halo Anything after a 2018 release would suck.

Why's that? They already have majority of the models after the port to PS4. While I too don't want a reskin and reuse of elements, the game shouldn't be brand new and built from the ground up. ND should easily be able to pull off a fall 2017 or early 2018 release date.
