Rockstar Cracking Down on GTA Online Hackers and Illegitmate Money

4.1
Rockstar Games has had enough of hackers who have added funds to their virtual wallet via various mods and hacks in GTA Online. And so today, the developer announced what it plans to do to remedy this problem.

An update on its support page reads:

“To keep the gameplay environment fair we have removed illegitimately gained in-game money from player accounts. If you received an alert saying that your shared bank balance was adjusted, that is because you had illegitimate funds in your account.”

In the following paragraph, Rockstar assures that any GTA$ purchased via Shark Cards will remain on the account and are not affected by the removal of illegitimately gained in-game money.

To accompany the support page update, Rockstar also updated its suspension and ban policy:
“GTA Online suspensions are triggered by a number of factors, including modding in GTA Online, exploiting or abusing game mechanics, manipulating protected game data and code, or interfering with other players’ gameplay experience. Suspensions from GTA Online due to these reasons may be temporary suspensions or permanent bans depending on the severity of the infraction. If you receive a temporary suspension from GTA Online, the next infraction will result in a permanent ban. If you are temporarily suspended from GTA Online, you will not be able to access GTA Online from the moment you are suspended. Your suspension expiration date is shown on the splash screen after being returned to Story Mode following an attempt to play GTA Online.

In addition, your GTA Online character(s) will be reset. All GTA Online progress, property and inventory will be reset. All GTA Online suspension and banning decisions are final and may not be appealed.”

Took them a long time to add this but I don't think it will stop anything as there will always be people going back on the 360 to get money from people that mod and coming back on the Xbox one and to be honest gaining money on Gta is harder it is you can spend an hour doing things and your barely make 100k they need to make getting money online more easier that way people will play the game legit and won't get money by cheating.

3yrs after the game is released and now they decide to "crack down on IIIegitmate money " lol

Just do the Pacific Standard Heist glitch, best way to earn money.

How long have they waited to do this? The game has been exploited long ago, although good that whoever purchased the shark card won't be affected.

Ill be honest, I bought a shark card :(, but only because you would get a percentage amount back so if you bought the 12 mil shark card which is $100, you would get 50% back, which would be 12 mil. sounds like a bargain. but honestly didn't know there were still glitches flowing around. The adder that I had for a long time since the beginning, which I grinded mission all night and played legitimately, now goes for 130k which it should sell for 800k. Very annoying

Nick This is good and bad for some players.

Nah, really? It'd be nice if news comments had some actual input.

This is definitely a good thing, no one likes a cheater? Right? I used to use the DNS mods back on Xbox 360, although that account is now banned (with good reason, I'm not complaining). I won't be the first to admit that having double the US national debt in your pocket would be, and was, amazing. You need money to do anything in GTA Online. Not having money is game-breaking. That's why there's cheaters in the first place though. I know why they are doing this, hacking in a big game like GTA is a big issue with a game's reputation. That being said, they can't make it as hard to earn money as it is without repercussions. Hacking/money glitching is the solution to this problem without shelling out a small fortune for digital currency. I'd really like to see them make earning enough money to enjoy the game possible if they're going to take the steps to prevent cheating. It's not fair to the people who genuinely try to earn money. I have literally 0 dollars in the game right now and I can't really do much besides rob convenient stores to buy maybe a BMX bike. It's ridiculous. Also earning money is a monotonous process in GTA online. You can spend an hour doing the same thing over and over to earn 100k which is barely enough for a decent car.

In the end, what it comes down to is that this is better for them in the long-run, but if they are going to put in effort to make cheating harder, they need to make earning money easier. Right now it's a long and boring process that needs refinement.

It would make since because the modded users wouldn't need to buy shark cards so they wanna take it all away to make us buy more cards

dah Well, I'm on PS3 will I get caught and banned? Nope.
BUT I'm worried if I buy a PS4 and download my account on the PS4 and play GTA5 with the amount of money I've got. Wondering if I will get banned. I got 912 Million. :/

Wont get banned, just reset. I had over 3 billion on PS4. It was only reset.

Oh I see, but shiiit. I'm not going to be ready to have a reset. I can only blame myself right so yeah. You got reset yet on the PS4 if so how much did you get reset? All of your money I guess?
