You can replace the HDD in your PS4 Pro

Sony has finally, officially answered two of the most frequently asked questions about the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro.

The PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony’s mid-generation upgrade, is out in less than a month. Everyone known that replacing the HDD is a very popular feature, and today Sony finally confirmed it can be done with the Pro model.

Speaking to Gamespot, the company confirmed that anyone would be able to swap the 1TB HDD that comes with the system for another.

That’s not all, Sony also revealed the Pro is running the latest SATA configuration, SATA 3.0. This upgrade means SSDs will benefit greatly from the overall higher bandwidth potential. Sony Japan had previously confirmed SATA 3.0 is supported, but it’s nice to hear it from local PR.

One thing remains to be seen, however, and that’s the thickness the Pro’s HDD bay supports. This only benefits those looking to add HDDs larger than 2TB, but it’s something we’re more likely to find out at launch.

PlayStation 4 Pro is out starting November 10.

My only gripe with the Xbox One S is that you can't replace it easily. Good one by sony.

Daniel That's a pretty cool feature in my opinion.

It's been around on PS4 since it came out. I changed out my HDD for a 2TB 7200 RPM HDD last year. Only cost me around $80 but now I buy all my games off of PSN and don't worry about deleting them because there's so much room.

Skates Bruh this should be an automatic with consoles already in this day and age.

Eventually consoles will be pc's with a locked down OS.
