Microsoft Faces Two Lawsuits Over Windows 10 Upgrade Policy

4.6
Microsoft had made it their mission to upgrade everybody in the world to Windows 10 during the first year of Windows 10’s existence, while it was a free upgrade- whether the users themselves wanted to upgrade to Windows 10 or not was not something they were concerned with. Using increasingly misleading and duplicitous wording, they managed to push Windows 10 on a lot of users who either were not prepared for an OS upgrade and all that it entails, or simply did not want it. Those people were pissed.

And now, those people are apparently suing Microsoft. There are two new lawsuits against Microsoft as a result of their aggressive upgrade policy- the first suit, filed in Florida, alleges that Microsoft “violated laws governing unsolicited electronic advertisements, and that their tactics were against the FTC’s rules on deceptive and unfair practices.” The second suit, meanwhile Israel, alleging that the OS installs itself on users’ PCs without their consent.

Microsoft, on their part, are maintaining that these lawsuits will fail, and that upgrading to Windows 10 is a choice, not a requirement. On my part, I am inclined to disagree with Microsoft- to put it mildly.

I'm actually satisfied with Windows 10, Quite the upgrade from 8.1 especially for free!

These lawsuits will go nowhere, Microsoft only settled the first one because it wasnt worth their time to fight over $10,000. Microsoft owns Windows, They can do whatever they want with it, Most people dont even own a license as they have OEM keys which the Manufacturer control. Even still people need to learn how Automatic updating works, What do you think will happen if you have it turned on? And even when it is turned on you can decide which updates you want and which ones you dont, And for all the people that complained about the Windows 10 notifications, All you had to do is uninstall the update that made them reappear. Plus what none of these dumb posts mention is that Microsoft offers make goods for scenarios for Windows 10 issues and the upgrade issue where you get free tech support or a replacement key for your previous OS.
I cant wait for Microsoft to shit so hard on anyone who is trying to sue them. Im sure their Terms and Conditions for allowing you to use their software has them covered.

If people would learn to upgrade MS wouldn't have to use "aggressive" updating. There is literally no reason to not have W10.

Not surprised by this, my sisters PC was updated to Win 10 forcefully, then got constant BSOD's. At least they allow you to downgrade within a month.. Still shouldn't be forced.

For the record, I completely disabled Windows Update, before the launch of 10, yet the Windows icon still appeared in my taskbar when this all started, saying that Windows 10 was downloaded, and was ready to install. I had to use CMD to turn off my system to avoid it updating to 10 by itself with no visible option to remove it...

And Windows Update was still disabled when the icon appeared, just to throw that in too. Maybe I should jump on the sue Microsoft bandwagon lol
