How To Install/Update and Configure Dashlaunch

Here I will show you how to install and configure Dashlaunch 2.08 for Freeboot 12611

For anyone who does not know, Dashlaunch is a homebrew app that can allow your Jtagged Xbox 360 to autoboot to Freestyle Dash (FSD) without launching the NXE dash first. It can also be used to autoboot to XeXMenu or other apps by holding specific buttons at startup that can be configured to your liking.

Because Dashlaunch is commonly installed prior to installing FSD, I will be showing you how to install Dashlaunch from XeXMenu, but it can also be launched from FSD if you would like to use this tutorial to update your existing Dashlaunch to the latest version.

1: Download Dashlaunch 2.08 [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
2: Download my pre-configured launch.ini [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] unless you are updating, then you can just update yours. Open the launch.ini

It would look like this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You'll need to change the highlighted text to point Dashlaunch to where your FSD is installed so if your FSD is in HDD:\Apps\Freestyle then you would need to change this line to HDD:\Apps\Freestyle\default.xex

You can also change the other autoboots I have configured to whatever you like. Make sure to save your changes.

3: Extract the downloaded Dashlaunch 2.08 folder somewhere to your computer, then transfer that folder and the launch.ini to a USB drive, or FTP them (Dashlaunch 2.08 folder can go anywhere but launch.ini must go to the root of your hard drive), or even better download my custom XeXMenu ISO that has them pre-loaded [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
4: Launch XeXMenu, (If you do not have XeXMenu installed, Click [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ) When prompted to sign-in to a profile, just hit B to exit without signing in, or sign in to a profile. You will be presented with XeXMenu.

5: Press the right bumper once to access Devices. By pressing right and left on the Dpad at this screen, you can cycle through the available devices.

6: Cycle over until the contents of the device you have stored the Dashlaunch 2.08 folder and launch.ini on are displayed.

7: If you FTP'd the folder and launch.ini to your hard drive, skip to step 8. If not, read on. Now we will copy the Dashlaunch 2.08 folder and the launch.ini to your hard drive. To copy a file or folder from a device to the hard drive in XeXMenu, highlight the file or folder, then press Y to open the submenu and select Copy. then press right or left to cycle to your hard drive, then press Y and select paste. Place the Dashlaunch 2.08 folder anywhere on your hard drive, then copy the launch.ini to the root of your hard drive.

8: Now cycle to your hard drive, select the folder labeled Dash Launch 2.08, then select the folder inside labeled Installer. Scroll down to the default.xex and select it. It will start the Dash Launch Installer, in a few seconds you should see some text at the bottom of the screen that says Press A to install or Update Dash Launch. Press A to begin installation.

9: It should write a few things to the flash then locate the launch.ini that you copied to the hard drive. It will now say press A to update or B to skip. Press A to update.

10: Here are the different options it will ask you to confirm, and the appropriate button to press for each option:

Would you like to change settings? Press A for yes.
Do you want to be able to relaunch from miniblade in NXE dash? Press A for yes.
Do you want to enable FBDev's ping limit patch? press A for yes.
Do you want to enable mojobjo's content unlock patch? Press A for yes.
Do you want the console to freeze on fatal errors? Press B for no.
Do you want the console to reboot on fatal errors? Press A for yes.
Do you want to enable ability to region spoof with RB on game launch? Press A for yes.
When a default item is set and you are playing a video, exit back to NXE? Press B for no.
When you are playing an XBLA game and use the exit option, exit to NXE? Press B for no.
Do you want to remove the ability to go to system settings via miniblades? Press B for no.

You may wish to enable or disable some of these options, but if you don't know what it is and don't know what you're doing and just blindly following my instructions, just follow the above steps exactly.

At this point it should say writing file... success, then it will say flashing done, press A to shutdown. Go ahead and press A to shutdown.

That's it if you followed my instructions you should be autobooting into FSD on startup.
