Synopsis
Everyone's favourite Monkey is back and this time he's bringing with him some all new weapons in the battle against the Bloons. He's going to need all the help he can get though as the Bloons also have a few new surprises in store.

Armed with an arsenal of darts, battle through 8 unique lands in an attempt to pop as many Bloons as possible. Can you master the Anti Grav, pilot the Monkey Ace precisely or perfect the timing to pop Camo Bloons before they disappear? Well it's time to find out as Bloons 2 has it all.

Some levels require precision, some require skill and others require puzzle solving skills. One thing is for certain though popping Bloons is so much fun!

Gameplay
In this bloons game, you are a monkey who has to pop a certain number of bloons (balloons) to complete a level. You are equipped by default with a number of darts to pop the bloons. The monkey is set at a point on the screen with the bloons to shoot at, sometimes protected by different blocks. There are a variety of different bloons and structure blocks that you can use to complete the levels. The bloons differ in color, but unlike other bloons games, the color of the bloons does not effect their strength or number of hits needed to pop. Some of the different variations of bloons include:

Bee Bloon - When popped releases a swarm of bees that the player controls which mow through bloons, the bees will quickly disappear however
Blooming Bloon - Releases 7 bloons in a hexagonal flower pattern when popped
Camouflage Bloon - Disappears and reappears from the player's vision, it can only be popped when it is mostly visible
Reverse Gravity Bloon - This bloon changes the state of gravity when popped. The monkey will float upwards and appear to hold on to the ground with its tail for effect
Monkey Ace Bloon - An arrow will appear scrolling from top to bottom on either side of the screen, when the player presses on one side of the screen a biplane being flown my a monkey will go from the side of the screen to the other popping any bloons in its path
Spawning Bloon - This bloon is the only one that takes multiple hits to pop, once hit the color will go down from Green-Purple-Yellow after which it will pop completely
Tack Bloon - When popped, releases tacks spraying in every direction that pop bloons they come in contact with
Bomb Bloons - Explode when popped causing nearby bloons to pop and some structure blocks to be destroyed
Spike Ball Bloons - Drop a spiky ball that pops any bloons that they come in contact with
Boomerang Bloon - This bloon will give the player a boomerang to use for their next shot
Dart Bloon - This bloon will give the player another dart to use for their next shot

The levels in the game are often much more than complex than simply popping the bloons, some of them give you limited ammo but require you to pop a large number of bloons, meaning you have to be very efficient with the ammo you are given. Some of the levels also require you to think; popping one group of bloons before another can be the difference between completing and failing a level. Overall I think the gameplay of this game is very fun and you can fly through the levels, but there are definitely a few levels that will really grind your gears and frustrate you as they take so long to complete.

Graphics
The graphic sin this game are definitely resemblant of cartoons and animated characters, which makes the game appeal to younger children which is the age range which I think a lot of the players fit into. The animation that happens when you pop the bloons is most likely one of the most frequently played ones, so it needs to be detailed and memorable. Another thing I like about the graphics in this game is the way that the menu transitions out when you open it, it doesn't just pop up on your screen, but each of the different options slide on to the screen individually giving it a bubbly effect. One other thing that I like is when you are aiming your dart, moving your finger to change the direction results in the monkey's arm moving with it, this simple addition just makes it look more professional and not tacky.

Audio
There is a constant background tune playing which is very upbeat and almost a signature of the Bloons game series, all of the games have their own similar and distinct background sound tracks. When you pop a bloon there is the sound that they make, the sound effect sounds like it was recorded by popping a real balloon which is more realistic than a computer generated sound. I think the sound in this game is fairly basic, but to be honest there isn't much you could add on or change about it that would make it any better.

Controls
In my opinion, the controls in this game can bring it down a little bit, to shoot a dart you let go of the screen while you are aiming wherever you want to shoot, this makes it harder to be accurate as you have to aim and shoot in one press of the screen. A way I would prefer the controls to work would be moving the aim of the dart, and then having to press a button to shoot the dart. Another thing about the controls is that sometimes your fingers can go off the screen which will fire the dart, if you did not do this intentionally then it can be very annoying.

Facts
  • There are many Bloons games in the series from these Bloons games, Bloons Tower Defense games and the Bloons Supermonkey series
