Firstly you need a monitor that can display a 4K resolution.

My guess is you don't have one of them.

Yeah you'll need a 4k monitor, and sufficient hardware to run such a resolution. So no an 8 year old potato won't do

That's good enough, although don't expect to run games maxed out in 4K

The 970 is a good single card for 4K it will handle a bunch on medium @30fps and a couple it could do 60fps.

As the others have said, grab a 4K display and you're good to go, but, be sure to look into how your hardware will preform in games at 4K, one 970 wont be maxing out certain games at 4K.

Or, since you have a single 970, save some $$ and grab a 1440p panel? Add another 970 in SLI in the future if you wish and you'll be able to slay 1440p. Single 970 will do well on a 1440p panel. No point buying a 4k monitor if you're going to be turning down the settings and still having less than 60FPS.

M8 pls.

4k isn't hard to run. Every game I've played at 4k my 770 has handled well. Even on medium the game looks better than 1080p ultra.

1440p is for peasants.
