Developer: EA Canada
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Platform(s): PlayStation Portable
Genre: First-Person Shooter
Players: 1-32

Synopsis

Experience three campaigns of previously unseen encounters in WWII through the eyes of renown heroes from past Medal of Honor games. Take on the role of Lieutenant Jimmy Patterson -- star of both the original Medal of Honor, and MOH: Frontline -- in an untold chapter of his time served for Operation Market Garden. Play as Sergeant John Baker, from MOH: Allied Assault Breakthrough, and sabotage German defenses on the Italian coastline to help the invasion forces crack Hitler's iron hold on Europe. And don the officer's cap of Lieutenant William Holt from MOH: European Assault and return to the Ardennes Forest during the Battle of the Bulge to complete unfinished business for the OSS. Players experience a totally new single player campaign, and can choose from six different multiplayer modes within 15 different maps, while participating in wireless multiplayer sessions with up to 32 players. Players also unlock over 20 classic characters to use in multiplayer games.

Story

In this installment of the series, you play three different stories as three different characters from earlier Medal of Honor games. In one story you view World War II in the eyes of Lieutenant Jimmy Paterson from the original game in the series, Sergeant John Baker from Allied Assault, and finally, Lieutenant William Holt from European Assault. Each of their stories take place in Italy, Belgium, and Holland, though they each fight along side a different squad of men, each with also different objectives. In the end, you all meet up during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, which you eventually win and then proceeds to a cut scene showing the victories of World War II.

Gameplay

In single player, most missions will require the player to blow some things up, kill numerous enemies, steal documents, and sometimes even return to the beginning. Each mission has a ranking system that is based off the time you finished, how many enemies you have killed, accuracy, and whether or not you have found the intel, and the objectives you have completed-or not completed. You can either earn bronze, silver, or gold and they don't really have an effect on the game, besides making you want to get a better score if you haven't gotten what you wanted. Along the way there are also weapons and skins you can unlock based on your score you have earned, these can only be used in skirmish and multiplayer.

In skirmish mode, there are three different game modes to choose from and a certain amount of AIs you wish to put into the game: 32 in total and Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Sabotage. First two are self-explanatory and Sabotage requires either team to blow up the other headquarters. First one to sabotage them wins. Though all 32 AIs won't be on the map at the same time, one will spawn after one has been killed. Each map has numerous weapons lying around you can pick up and ones that have fallen from dead soldiers. There are four classes to choose from as well: assault, sniper, engineer, and officer. Assault has your automatic and semi-automatic rifles, snipers will have scoped rifles, engineers run sub-machine guns with bazookas, and officers will have very powerful pistols and sub machine guns too. All of this applies to online and LAN multiplayer as well.

Graphics

Graphics are pretty well designed here. Definitely no where near 1080p, but it'll make you wonder if it actually is a PSP game and not on a console. Each mission is fairly long and the environments in them look great. Characters and weapons are a bit blocky, but the action and stray vehicles look extremely well. Almost each character is unique as well making it very appealing as you won't feel like you are shooting the same person every time. The sky looks outstanding, almost like a painting, with the occasional planes flying overhead and flak exploding up there constantly, no matter where you are or time of day.

Controls

As this game is on the PSP, it may be a little complex for a beginner and may take some time to get used to the layout. Since there is only one analog it controls the movement, but not the direction, of your character. The D-pad controls where you want to look, aim, plant bombs, and pick things up. The buttons will control the menu screen, reloading, sprinting, and crawling. One trigger will shoot the weapon and the other will throw grenades. That being said, it may even take some time for an experienced player to get adjusted to.
