Synopsis

It was a wonderful day for our anonymous hero, at least until the moment when he was torn from his loved ones by a viciously sharp grappling hook.
Locked in a cramped cell on a planet far, far away, our hero could give in to despair and abandon himself to his fate. But with your help he can overcome gravity, turn worlds, and even escape!
Solving the rotating, physics-based puzzles is easy - just use your finger to continuously turn the cell in both directions around our hero. Of course you also have to make clever use of the Freeze! button, which can overcome gravity. Sound simple? It is at first...
Freeze! offers completely new and yet immediately intuitive game mechanics, delightfully gloomy graphics from the internationally renowned pop-up designer and illustrator Jonas Schenk, and a very sinister soundtrack from noted Swiss electronic/trance musician Karl Lukas.

Gameplay

Freeze! is one of the few puzzle games that I have seen use physics to make it more challenging. I will say that if you are the type of person who gets easily frustrated this game isn't going to help you much to control it. The physics in this game make some levels seem incredibly impossible to beat and it can frustrate people out a lot. Luckily though if you are stuck they do offer a skip button for that level once you die a certain amount of times. In this game you play as an eyeball who has to escape from imprisonment. In order to help the eyeball you will have to tilt the levels and let physics take it course to roll the eyeball around the level to get to the end. It's basically getting from point a to b every level with new obstacles every time. It might seem like it will get old, but surprisingly this game is actually very addicting to play. Some levels will require for you to freeze the the eyeball in place while tilting the level to get it to areas it wasn't able to before. I really enjoy the freeze feature as it adds a nice challenge to the levels. Sometimes the freeze button has only a certain amount of times it can be used before it stops working. For example, in a level the freeze button might only be able to be used twice which can make levels very tricky. Once you die you will have to restart the whole puzzle all over again. There are over 4 different worlds to play in, each with a large amount of levels. The one downside though is how you have to pay for the three out of the four worlds. So you only get 25 levels to play for free and if you don't want to purchase the rest then this game is pointless to keep playing. Overall, the game is pretty fun, but with the rest of the levels only being unlocked through in app purchases I don't see this game being something to play for a long period of time.

Graphics

The graphics in this game are nothing to go crazy about, but I have seen some pretty cool things in this game. When entering the game it has more of an apocalyptic feel as the background shows a city in ruins. There are only two colors used in this game and that is black and white. The black and white color scheme makes the game atmosphere seem dark and gloomy. As you play in the levels the background moves as well which looks pretty cool. The eyeball from time to time blinks and does things which is pretty weird, but a nice little detail they added nonetheless. Animations whether it be from obstacles moving to the physics of the eyeball looks great while playing. Overall the graphics are pretty clean and simple looking for this type of game.

Controls

The controls in this game are pretty basic, but can get very frustrating. You basically have to tilt the map by tapping and holding it either right or left. The faster you swipe the faster the eyeball moves around. Freezing the eyeball in the air sometimes glitches out and it doesn't always work for me sometimes. I think it's kind of cool how the game uses physics, but on certain levels trying to rotate the level to move around doesn't always work out the way I want it to. Twice when I was trying to rotate the level it spazzed out and I ultimately lost the level because of it. Overall, the game controls are nice, but they need to work on fixing up some of the glitches to make it even better.
