Synopsis:

Blitz: The League II is an American football video game developed by the now-defunct Midway Games. as a part of its Blitz series. It was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 13, 2008. There are five new teams included in this installment (The Los Angeles Riot, the Houston Riders, Vancouver Beavers, Milwaukee Hounds, and Atlanta 404), and four older teams have been relocated. Lawrence Taylor (L.T.) is featured in the game, voicing a role as Quentin Sands. The game also alludes to real-life scandals involving NFL players, as former Washington Redhawks quarterback Mike Mexico is now serving time in prison. This situation is similar to the Michael Vick, who used the pseudonym "Ron Mexico" when seeking treatment for herpes, as well as Vick's conviction for running an illegal dogfighting ring. There are also allegations of the New England Regulars cheating in a championship game, a reference to the New England Patriots' "Spygate" scandal. The game also features an incident with the Minnesota Reapers, reminiscent of the Minnesota Vikings boat scandal.

Story:

Welcome young blood to the league, the most intense and dangerous sport known to man kind. This type of football game is more violent then any other sport you will every see. Your whole entire purpose out there is to kill the guys on the other team. And well of course win but most importantly kill the other players or at least injury them if you are feeling nice. As you start getting use to the league it will be your job to make sure all our new players feel real welcome on this team. So only break a finger we will still need them. So welcome to the league and I hope you last long enough to be what we consider a veteran player. Best of luck to you and remember go out there and cause as much harm as you can!

Gameplay:

Welcome to Blitz The League II, by far the most intense football game I have ever played in my life. This game is not like any other normal sports game. Your whole purpose is to literally hurt and or kill the opposing team. Watching your player just crush the opposing player is a sight worth seeing. This game does work like other football games though too. Such as scoring touchdowns is how you win the games and running plays is all still normal. But Blitz brings a whole new crazy style of football to you with extremely hard hits and bone crushing injuries. Overall Blitz is a really awesome unique football game that I think anyone would enjoy playing. With all the cool hits you can do you will find yourself losing track of time when playing this game. This game has a very cool spin off from a normal football game and is really fun.

Blitz the League II is a very unique football game. One of the most interesting things is when you injure a player you are able to get a chance to really break his bone or other body parts. When you break something it does show it as well. I found this to be extremely interesting sense I never has seen something like that before. When a player gets injured you get a chance to give him a shot in most cases to help him heal and return to the game. Giving a player a shot is not the easiest thing in the world to do. But if you just enjoy football this game offers that as well. Aside from all the injuries you can cause this game does play like a football game and you win by touchdowns just like a normal game. There is also a few different game modes with one of my favorite being a prison yard game that allows you to play against prisoners. This game has a lot of different game modes to tryout and see how you do against the other team. But I personally like the campaign the most. Being able to get a team together and try to raise to the top. It is a lot of fun. I do wish there was a bit more customization to it though, If you could have more customization I think it would make this game so much better. Overall the game play is really fun and unique compared to other football games. The play style is nothing like I have ever seen in a sports game and is for sure worth trying out. I hope in the future another Blitz will be made because I am sure it will be just as good as this one.

Graphics:

The graphics for Blitz the League II are pretty decent. They look good during game play and when there is a lot going on. The most impressive thing is when the game shows you what body part you broke on the opposing player. It is very detailed and kinda gross looking at the same time. The atmosphere itself could use a little touch up the people in the stands are not really detailed or anything which is a bit of a disappointment. The players themselves are not really detailed either which again I was disappointed with. I think they could have done a better job with the graphics for this game. But overall I think they are pretty decent, the injuries are by far the most detailed thing in the game and they are pretty sick to look at and watch. Even with a bit of a disappointment with the graphics I do recommend this game still.

Controls:

The controls for Blitz the League II are pretty decent. I personally was a bit surprised on how simple the controls are for this game. I think the controls really fit the game well and thought it really got me into the game more because I was interacting more then I thought I would be able to. They are really easy to learn and remember and can make the game way more fun. Overall the controls are really good and fit the game well. I like the idea of how basic they are but at the same time make u feel like your in the game controlling it all. I really like the different hits you can control and use to your advantage against the opposing players. It really makes the game way more fun.

Overall:

Game play: 9/10
Graphics: 8.3/10
Controls: 9/10
Overall: 8.8/10
