Synopsis:

Delivering a visceral WWII gaming experience, Company of Heroes redefines real time strategy gaming by bringing the sacrifice of heroic soldiers, war-ravaged environments, and dynamic battlefields to life. Beginning with the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, players lead squads of Allied soldiers into battle against the German war machine through some of the most pivotal battles of WWII. Through a rich single player campaign, players experience the cinematic intensity and bravery of ordinary soldiers thrust into extraordinary events.

Story:

Welcome soldier to the most intense and scary time of your young life. Tomorrow we invade Normandy and push our enemy back from where they came from. It will be up to you and thousands of other soldiers to fight your way off the beach and into Normandy. Now go get some rest and prepare for tomorrow. As you board the landing craft and get ready to storm the beach of Normandy you look around at your squad members and notice they all look a bit nervous as you guys approach the beach you begin to hear gunfire as bullets wiz by your head and hit your landing craft. As you come to a halt the front of the craft falls down and you and your squad quickly runs for cover. As you begin to move up the beach countless numbers of enemies are looking down on you trying to kill you. As you progress up the hill side you and your squad begin pushing the enemy back into Normandy and as you look around you see the hundreds of soldiers that lay dead and wounded on the field. And as you regroup with your squad you are given new orders that will take you deeper into Normandy.

Gameplay:

Company of Heroes is a real time strategy game that is based off of World War II (WWI), You play as the United States as you strike back to Free Normandy. The game starts you out with playing on D-Day. Your objective is to take the beach head and push the enemy back as much as possible. In order to do so you will need to really think about every decision you make which can be anything from a squad of troops to a entire platoon. All the soldiers lives will be in your hands as you try to take the beach. You will need to bring all your strategic thinking in order to achieve victory and if you fail to do so then you will have hundreds and possibly thousands of dead soldiers because of your actions. Company of Heroes mission are all based around big battles during WWII and it will be up to you to achieve victory. This game is really fun and you can lose track of time because of it. Overall this game has a lot to it and I recommend it to anyone that like strategy games. It has a lot of different things to do and no mission is like the last.

Company of Heroes game play is very addicting, the strategic game play will keep you on the edge of your seat. At times this game is hard and a tad frustrating but you will always be able to figure out the best way to achieve victory over your enemy. The campaign is really fun and follows WWII pretty well. I personally like the first chapter the most sense it involves D-Day. When playing this game you are looking over the battle field in a bird eye view and you are in control of any friendly AI on the field. You must place units correctly and swiftly in order to destroy enemy AI without a ton of casualties on your side. Each mission will have objectives for you to complete in order to finish the mission. As you progress through the campaign the enemy AI will become harder to kill sense they will be moving more strategically and as a huge group at times. The objectives will get hard and become longer to finish doing which makes it a lot longer to complete missions. The game play really makes you feel like you are in complete control of the battle you are in as you move and attack the enemy. I personally like building up a huge tank division and letting them lead my soldiers through city's and other enemy territories. The game play is fun and addicting I do recommend this game to anyone.

Graphics:

The graphics for Company of Heroes are really awesome especially when there is a fire fight going on. I really enjoy looking at all the detailed soldiers and buildings that are slowly crumbling to nothing. I think the graphics look really good in this game and even with how big some of the maps are for missions the graphics can still look really good. I think when there is a fire fight that all the explosions and gun fire looks really good even with a ton of AI's in one area fighting. With all the different colors and textures one concern I had was it might be a bit over whelming but everything looks really nice and clean. Overall the graphics are really nice looking and really make this game so much better.

Controls:

The controls for Company of Heroes are pretty easy to learn. Most of it all is controlled with the arrow keys and mouse. I think the controls are really easy to learn and remember. The controls seem to fit the game really well and makes you feel like you are in control of everything around you, really makes you feel like you are really there commanding your army with every strategic move. Overall the controls are really basic and easy to learn, the game play seems to fit the controls quite well and I was impressed on how much you feel like you are actually there with such basic controls.

Extras:

This is the first Company of Heroes, But there is a second one I will leave the review for that one below if you are interested in it. I do recommend purchasing this game before you decide to get the newer ones. That way if you do not like it then you did not spend as much money. This game is really fun and the newer ones have some really cool multiplayer that you and your friends can play. If you like this one I do also recommend the second one as well.
