Synopsis:

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is an action video game published by Electronic Arts, and developed by Pandemic Studios based upon the fantasy book The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien and its live-action film trilogy adaptation, directed by Peter Jackson and released by New Line Cinema. It is the spiritual successor to the Star Wars Battlefront series. The game uses several models taken directly from the movies and uses these in its in-game engine. It was released on January 13, 2009. The creators also released two content expansion packs that added maps, heroes, and a whole new game mode, although they are no longer available for purchase on Playstation.

Story:

Welcome new soldier to the most important battle of your young life. You must choose your side carefully and once this is done then your training will begin. It will be up to you to decide what class type you want to be and make sure to train yourself hard. We will be fighting the enemy head on and we will need every soldier ready for battle in order to seek victory over our enemies. Once the battle has begun sometimes our heros will be able to try to help defeat our enemy so make sure to use them to your advantage. We must take back these lands and it will be up to you to do it. Good luck soldier.

Gameplay:

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest is a game that will remind you a lot of Star Wars Battlefront, You get to choose what side to fight for and once this has been done you will be able to select different classes to fight with that all have their own special ability and powers. You will be fighting in places from the movies and will be able to relive each battle anyway you would like. With all the different maps to play on and the different characters to play as you will get sucked into this game for hours. You can also team up with a friend and fight side by side against your enemy or maybe instead go head to head and see whos army will come out victorious. Overall this game is really fun and can be semi addicting. If you are even thinking about getting this game then I advise you to do so. This game has a lot of offer and never gets boring.

The actual game play itself is really addicting if you are a fan of Star Wars Battlefront then you are going to most likely really like this game as well. I personally like playing as the mage sense they have a protective shield you can use and overall are very deadly from a distance and face to face. Once you get enough objectives and kills you will get a chance to play as one of the different heros for either side and take them into battle in order to have a advantage to become victorious. All the heros have different abilities and powers that make them all unique and dangerous on the battle field. As you progress through the campaign and become better at the game it does get harder sense the AI become harder to kill and play against. This is a really fun game that I think anyone would enjoy playing specially if you are a fan of the series. This game play as so much to offer and has so much to see and do, it is amazing how much a game like this can have in it especially when it was released in 2009.

Graphics:

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest overall has a really nice look to it when it comes to graphics. When I first played this game I was impressed by the attention to detail it has and how there can be so many soldiers on screen at once and fighting and the game having absolutely no problem making them all move correctly without making them look like they are floating or clipping into anything. I really like all the detail to the maps if you have watched the movies you will most likely be impressed by it too. With all the AI's on the field at once all attack each other it is a chaos of colors and explosions which all look really nice and well made. Overall considering the game is from 2009 I am still really impressed with the way the developers created the game and because of this I think it really makes the game more fun.

Controls:

The controls for the Lord of the Rings: Conquest are really basic and really easy to learn. The controls are like any other normal shooter game and I had no trouble getting them down fast. I think the controls fit the game really well and was pleased to see how easy it was to play the game. The controls are actually almost like Star Wars Battlefront if you have gotten the chance to every play that game then you will know how to play this one just fine. Overall the controls fit the game really nicely and sense they are so basic it makes the game more fun for the user to be able to play a action game but can also relax while doing it if wanting to.

Overall:

Game play: 9/10
Graphics: 8.5/10
Controls: 9/10
Overall: 8.8/10
