Synopsis:
RuneScape takes place in the world of Gielinor, a medieval fantasy realm divided into different kingdoms, regions, and cities. Players can travel throughout Gielinor via a number of methods including on foot, magical spells, or charter ships.Each region offers different types of monsters, resources, and quests to challenge players. Players are represented in the game with customisable avatars. RuneScape does not follow a linear storyline; rather, players set their own goals and objectives. Players can choose to fight non-player character (NPC) monsters, complete quests, or increase their experience in the available skills. Players interact with each other through trading, chatting, or by participating in mini-games and activities, some of which are competitive or combative in nature, while others require cooperative or collaborative play.
Story:
Welcome new adventurer, your time has come to take your life in your own hands and go explore the world of Gielinor. As you start your adventure make sure to take advantage of every opportunity you can and meet new and interesting people. Interacting with new people will help you learn new skills and obtain new things such as armor and weapons. As time goes on and you progress and learn new things skills will become easier for you and you will possibly be able to make some good money off of these new skills as well. Make sure to always keep yourself safe and if you do come across one of the dangerous monsters in this land please make sure to be carrying at least a sword to try and slay it. As you meet your new friends and start doing quest with them you will hopefully get more riches then you can even imagine. Everyone's adventure is different so now it is time for you to write the next chapter in history and do good things.
Gameplay:
Welcome to Runescape. The game that most of us have all played at some point in our lives. Runescape is a massive multiplayer game that is based mostly on the medieval era were dragons roamed the lands and kings rule with a iron fist. This game has just so much into it that you will always find something new to do. Sense this game was released back in 2001 if has come so far from what it started as. This game is extremely fun and extremely addictive. You will spend countless hours on this game and grind to get levels and items. Everyone has their own pro and cons of this game and some love and hate it. Overall this is a amazing game that is so much fun playing with friends or meeting new people to team up with. Sense there is just so much to do in this game it will take a long time if you plan on trying to complete everything in this game. This game allows you to create your own person and take them on their own adventure as you progress through the game. They now have the current version of Runescape (RS3) and they brought back a more classic version of Runescape (Old School) I will be covering both versions.
Runescape 3
Old School
Runescape 3:
Runescape 3 is the current version of Runescape (RS) This game gets updated with new things all the time and always has a ton of stuff to do on it. Once you make a character and get started on your adventure you will start running into other players and awesome cool things. Other players are your best bet to learn the game, if you can get a friend or two who have been playing for a while you can use this to your advantage to learn how to play and what you possibly should be working on. You can do anything from skilling, questing, slaying monsters, and PVP and so much more. Every time you log on a new adventure will be waiting for you. From fighting dragons to maybe even just planting a tree. I personally think when it comes to actually skilling in Runescape 3 (RS3) I think it is a bit easier to get to level 99 in certain skills then it use to be. But on RS3 they have added a few more skills for players to work on and improve. Overall Runescape 3 (RS3) is a really fun game and does take quite some time to actually get good stats and items.
Old School:
Old School Runescape is really for the people that played back in 2007. I personally play this version a lot more then I do RS3. When you go to Old School it is like making a new character. You will have to reset on that version and work your way back up. It really brings back memories when you create your character and work your way back up. Especially if you played back in 2007. this version of Runescape I believe is a bit harder to level up in and does take a lot of time and patience. Items are harder to find without a General Exchange (GE) and when you do find your item the other player might be over charging it if they know it is hard to find. The monsters and skills are all back to the way they use to be back in the day. PVP is pretty big in the Old School Runescape. A lot of people like to fight each other in the wild and try to loot graves. Overall Old School Runescape is really a way to relive your childhood or relive memories you had when first playing back in the day. But even if you are brand new it is a good way to see how Runescape use to be and how it was played.
F2P Skills:
As you can see with the above picture there are a ton of different skills for you to try to achieve level 99. Once you get level 99 you will unlock the skillcape for that skill and can wear it and show it off (RS3 you can get most of the skills to 200m xp wise and unlock another type of skillcape for that skill). Below are the different skills and a little information on each of them.
Attack:
Attack is a basic combat skill needed to wield new weapons and the higher the level you have the less chance of missing hits you will have. Which will help you in combat. As you level up you will be able to wield more powerful weapons to slay your foes with.

Ranged is a combat skill that allows players to fight there enemies with arrows and other things such as knifes and crossbows. This is another very popular skill to level for players and once you get to a higher level you can become a very deadly player from a distance

Prayer:
Prayer is a very needed skill if you plan on doing any type of fighting in this game. Prayer allows you to prey for assistance in your fights. The higher the prayer level you have the better prayers you will be able to use to help you in your fights. This skill is a very popular skill for people, but is not a very popular 99 skill for players. Reason being it is very expensive to obtain 99.

Magic:
Magic is a combat skill that allows players to learn how to use spells which can either can be used to fight opponents or teleport you around the map. This skill is one of the most popular skills to level for players and is a pretty common 99. You can get different spell books by doing quest to get new spells.

Constitution:
Constitution is a needed basic skill that allows players to get more hp as you level the skill. This comes very handy when you are fighting, the higher your Constitution level the better chances you have of winning. This skill is also a very popular skill for players to level.

Smithing:
Smithing is another unique skill that lets players smelt ore into bars and than take those bars and make either weapons or armor. This skill is something you do not normally see at 99, the reason being is this skill cost a lot of money to get to 99 fast. This is a popular skill at low levels for players though.

Fishing:
Fishing is a pretty common skill that allows the players to catch different fish with different fishing equipment. The higher the fishing level the better types of fish you can catch. This skill can make you tons of money once you get to a higher level in fishing and this skill is a very common 99 to see.

Cooking:
Cooking is a basic skill that allows the player to cook different types of food which is used to heal you when in battle. As you level your cooking level up the more variety of food you can make. This skill is one of the fastest 99's to get and is a very common 99 to see in game.

Firemaking:
Firemaking is a basic skill that allows the player to use logs to light fires. Different types of logs are able to be used as you level up and these fires can be used to cook food on. Firemaking is another skill that is considered to be a fast 99 and is very common to see in game.

Woodcutting:
Woodcutting is a basic skill that allows the players to use axes to cut down trees to get logs. This is a very popular skill that can be a very good money maker as well. As you level up you will be able to use better axes and be able to cut down better trees that can be sold once you obtain he logs. This skill is semi fast if you are going to get 99 and is still a popular 99 to see.

Runecrafting:
Runecrafting is a skill that allows players to make different types of runes depending on which altar you are using. This skill can be very handy if you do not want to buy all your runes for 99 Magic. This is also a pretty slow 99 to get and for that reason is uncommon to see the skillcape in game.

Dungeoneering:
Dungeoneering is a skill that allows players to go into the dungeons of Daemonheim, this skill allows players to unlock exclusive weapons and other things. This skill uses your other skills and will put them to the test. This is a very fun skill to work on and is a pretty popular skill for players.

Member Skills:
If you are a member you have access to even more skills then free to play (F2P) players do. These skills are pretty cool and will really let you experience the full game. I personally like agility the most but I think most users like doing slayer and fletching. These skills are all very fun to level up and unlock new things.Below will be the skills that are only available to members.
Agility:
Agility is a skill that allows players to be able to use shortcuts that are spread out all over the map. It also will increase the recharge rate for your energy when running. There is also a few items that require a certain agility level in order to use it. This is by far one of the slowest skills to get to 99. It is very repetitive and this is why you will not see this cape a lot in game. I personally have this cape on Old School untrimmed and I cannot see me doing it again on RS3.

Herblore:
Herblore is a skill that allows players to make different types of potions which can be used for multiple things. Herblore is another slow skill to 99 but if you have the money to get it fast that it does not take to long. It is a very expensive skill to get to 99 if you want it fast. This is a uncommon cape as well to see in game.

Slayer is a skill that is all just about slaying different monsters throughout the map. It also has the chance of giving better drops if you are on a slayer task. This can be a hard 99 to get especially if you are trying to get it untrimmed. It is a uncommon cape to see in game.

Farming:
Farming is a skill that allows players to plant and grow their own fruit, vegetables, herbs, and trees. This skill is extremely slow to get to 99 unless you have the money to dump into it then it is semi fast. This is a expensive skill to get to 99 and is uncommon to see in game

Construction:
Construction is a skill that allows players to build a house and design it anyway they want to. As you level you will be able to add a ton more things into your home including a dungeon! This is a very fun skill but also extremely expensive to get to 99. This is a uncommon cape to see in game as well.

Hunter:
Summoning:
Summoning is a skill that allows players to summon familiars which can either help in combat or possibly store more items for you. This is a very helpful skill to have a higher level in and once you get to a higher level you can summon better familiars. This 99 is kinda slow and is a little uncommon to see in game at 99.

Divination:
Member Benefits
To become a member on Runescape you must pay a monthly fee to have access to all the member benefits. Overall I think for the price you pay you are getting a ton in return. With all the extra skills,items, quests, and even extra parts of the map this is something to really look into if you play this game a lot. Becoming a member is what makes this game really great. Free to play (F2P) players only get a little taste of what this game has to offer.
One of the biggest things for members is the land you get to explore. Below is a picture of the map but if you are free to play (F2P) then you can only go so far but if you are a member then you can explore this entire huge map as you go on your adventure. There is every type of landscape from the hot desert to the vast tropical jungle. It is amazing on how big the map actually is and how detailed everything is no matter were you are going. But this is not all, the other things members have access to is way better and cooler looking items. Items like weapons and armor to other things like a spade or rake. There is so many extra items for you to obtain as a member that will help you along your adventure. There is also a lot more quest for you to complete that wield very good rewards and other things that will help you progress. The last really good thing is as a member you have more bank space to store things. I personally think becoming a member is the way to go for sure if you really enjoy this game.
Graphics:
Runescape 3:
Runescape 3 (RS3) has gone far beyond amazing when it comes to graphics. They are purposely meant to look like a cartoon, but it was done so in a way that really flows with the game really well. When I first saw the graphical change that had been done to RS3 I was very impressed with the detail and colors that had been changed or added. For this being a multiplayer game you would think it might be slightly hard to achieve what Jagex has with RS3. No matter what you are doing there is usually something always going on around you that deals with different colors or some type of emote. Overall the graphics for RS3 are beyond amazing especially if you are the type that pays attention to detail. This game has really come far from what it use to be.
Old School:
Old School Runescape is also very well done when it comes to graphics. They are exactly like they use to be back in the day and I personally like them a bit more then RS3. I think the graphics look really good and really fit the game really well. Now you are not going to get as much detail from this version as you would with RS3 but that doesn't mean the graphics are bad. The colors shown in game all mix with each other well and no matter were you are on the map there is either always something to look at or something to watch (emotes). Your character moves extremely well without clipping into other objects around you and when casting a spell or other things I have never noticed any type of clipping either. Overall I think the graphics are really good especially if you take into consideration that these graphics are from 2007.
Controls:
The controls for both RS3 and Old School are pretty much the same. The controls for both versions of this game are extremely easy to learn when the mouse is pretty much used for everything you do. Right clicking the mouse will allow you to bring up a menu for what ever you rick clicked on and select what to do with it. Left click is how you can do basically everything like attacking your opponent or just walking around. When chatting with a friend you will use the keyboard to chat or search for things in your bank but that is about it. Overall I really like the controls for this game and think they fit and work really well. If you are still having issues with learning the controls then you can always look up a tutorial.

Extras:
Runescape is a massive game with a ton of stuff to do. If you are still having thoughts weather or not to play this game then please look into some gameplay I am sure you will not be disappointed. With there being so much to do it takes years to get a really good overall account especially if you are trying to get max. This game can be addicting and usually is once you get back into it. I would become a member it is almost like you are cheating yourself out of this game just playing free to play (F2P). There is always a new update and you can check it out on the official Runescape site to see what exactly has been added or changed. To access Old School Runescape you have to go to the official site then there is a link from there to access it.

Nice Review, very detailed. I also agree with the rating of 9.5. It's been a while since I've played but I might start again.
