How about some poster designs for some games or movies that you like? I'm working on some movie posters for my personal study coursework. You could try some retro or vintage designs for some old movies, or alternatively clean and contemporary vector illustrations for modern films. If you decide to go with it, take a look online at some movie poster examples to gather inspiration. The reason I think this is good for a portfolio is because it shows illustration and typography skills. I wish I had time to work on some projects like this to build up my own portfolio!

Yeah im trying out same game posters right now , Ive done some type work but i haven't got a clue when it comes to illustrations , Would love to learn but dont know where to start.
