This G.Skill RAM is 2666MHZ [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

On [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] it says my motherboard (Asus Crosshair V Formular Z supports the RAM above) But in the information part of my motherboard on [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] it says Memory Type : DDR3-1066 / 1333 / 1600 / 1800 / 2000 / 2133 / 2400 .

But in the compatible motherboard list for the RAM it says my motherboard will support/work with this particular RAM Kit is this true or not?

My manual says 2400 aswell but this RAM Kit is 2666. I WANT IT. will it work with my Asus Crosshair V Formular Z motherboard?

The speed will be supported, but good luck running it that high. You can run it past 2400 if properly configured.

Personal experiences with RAM are usually irrelevant unless the ICs (integrated circuits) used are found to be better than the price would suggest. If you're really in to memory, you'll know what specific ICs you're looking for and how they will perform.

That said, I suggest you not waste your money on high-end memory because it will hardly improve performance and cost a lot. Even the cheapest kits have lifetime warranties and you won't find "bad" RAM.

What are you going to be using your pc for?

16GB might be completely unnecessary never mind the 2666Mhz

Spending that ammount on RAM is ridiculous.

Can put the money towards a better GPU/CPU/cooling system/case or a SSD if you haven't got one.

Whats your current specs?

I wanted high end RAM for mainly editing i currently have Corsair Vengeance 1333mhz x2 2GB

i took them out of my old PC and placed them in my new build but i want to upgrade to better. If buying the G.Skill 2666mhz Ram Kit it will not benefit me in getting the performance im expecting after paying 200 for these.

So really i would be better of buying the G.Skill 16GB x4 4GB 2400mhz Kit wont i? which is 185??? ive seen it for.

I wanted high end Ram for mainly editing and multi-tasking Also i would like to have the performance to run popular games with no problems like BF 4 which is why i chose such a Kit at 2666mhz but if i wont ever get the top performance from the G.Skill 16GB 2666mhz Kit then it will be pointless me buying it, Ill be better of buying the G.Skill 16GB 2400mhz Kit wont i.

When you say editing, do you mean hardcore editing?

16gb ram at that speed is hardly going to benefit you in game. 8GB is the most you will need when it comes to gaming.

Whats the rest of your build???

I wouldn't say Hardcore editing but i want my pc to be more than capable in handling editing possibly large files + very little to none freezing issues, As for gaming, I play xbox360 so i game on that mostly but i would like to play pc games such as BF4 that require high end components to play them and i want to be able to play them smooth with no problems. & the editing side, i just want to be able to edit videos with no interruptions like freezing or Windows crashing like my old pc did with the same RAM im using in this, I will mainly be buying the RAM for editing purposes but i want RAM thats capable in playing games like BF4 because it requires high end parts to help run the game. Also to make windows work faster, like browsing, multi-tasking ect.

I currently have 4GB of RAM installed and the amount of freezing/lag i have experienced when this RAM was in my old PC was unreal, It seems to perform better in my Asus Crosshair V Formular Z Motherboard but 4GB Memory is not enough for what i want to do.

No SSD Yet
Cheap GPU - Nvidia Geforce 210. This is Just to be able to use my new build until i buy a better GPU because this board dont have integrated graphics.
CPU Fan is stock until i buy Corsair H100i
DVD Drive is from my old PC worth about 20

If theres anything else you require before you give me advice let me no what it is you want to see if i have & then ill tell you. But from what im looking at everything is there in this thread so far, The best components in my build so far is the PSU & CPU oh & Case ha Corsair Graphite 760T Black w/Red Front Case Fans x2 LED`s Full Tower case.

I still need:
Better GPU
SSD
Cooling for CPU
RAM

i cant think of anything else atm if you have suggestions let me no please thanks man
