Here's another illustration of my girlfriend.
I attempted a pin up format for this one...

I tried a few new and different techniques with it as well.

Damn, another great illustration. I can't find anything to fault! Oddly, the thing I like most about this piece is the textured background/spotlight that you've added - it's a nice effect that adds more depth, and keeps things interesting. Out of curiosity, did you start with the background, or with the illustration?

I think the pose you've chosen is effective - the eyes look directly at the viewer and grabs attention. I've always liked illustrations involving the human figure. Looking forward to seeing more illustrations in this style.

I agree with Pin, this is really good. The background has a great texture and emphasises the illustration a lot!

Minor criticism:

The right hand, for one; who wears a ring on the bottom half of their finger? (I have never seen this, maybe a popular trend lol xD)

And the next thing for the right hand, I don't really like how the shadow for the shirt ends at the same time on the hand.

No the background was definitely done later on.

Though she was wearing leggings in the base, I would advise to change the bottoms to add more texture and detail as it seems kind of lazy looking.
Plus if you are going for a pin up style I would have converted her shirt into a dress for an overall style enhancement.
Other than that the lines, shading and, texturing is good; just add an extra level of creativity to your designs.

That's actually a really good idea.
I thought the pants looked weird because they were leggings but I couldn't think of what to do.

I personally really like this design and it looks pretty well over all if I am being honest. I have done designs and illustrations of my woman friend as well and I know from experience that it is hard to capture their true beauty. I think that you did well with this though!
