Synopsis
Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style - released as Wu-Tang: Taste the Pain in PAL regions - is a four-player, 3D fighting game for the PlayStation. The basis for the game's story and setting is the real-life rap group Wu-Tang Clan, featuring characters based on their stage personas and the martial arts themes of their music. Some members of the group also provided voiceover work for the game and made vocal and production contributions to the game's music.

Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style uses a unique game engine created by Paradox Development, originally made for their unreleased PlayStation title, Thrill Kill. That game was noteworthy for allowing up to four players to fight simultaneously, a feature heavily utilized in Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style.

Due to the game's graphic depictions of blood and violence, a special code printed on the instruction manual had to be entered within the game to see the full, uncensored action.

Story 7/10
The story follows the Wu-Tang Clan who are studying under kung fu master Master Xin who is kidnapped by evil enemy Mong Zhu. The Clan must fight through Staten Island, New York City, and China against Mong's goons to get Master Xin back from the evil clutches of Mong.
Throughout the game you battle Mong's goons in mortal kombat style matches and usually you're outnumbered for each fight.
During the game you can complete 36 challenges also known as the 36 chambers, and each challenge rewards you with something different

Gameplay 8/10
The gameplay is basically a typical 3D fighter game, 90s hip hop edition. All of the songs featured in the game consist of Wu-Tang mostly from the 36 Chambers. You must fight through and through to get Master Xin back from Mong Zhu.
The game runs off of the engine based from the game Thrill Kill, meaning this is a tournament style fighting game. All 9 members of the Wu are featured in this game and any other character is fictional to make up the story.
This game is basically all a 3D combat style fighting game based from Mortal Kombat. The only difference is that you have lives and have a chance to redeem yourself if you're defeated instead of restarting completely. You also have a power up bar that once is fully filled you have power up moves you can perform until the bar runs out.
lastly, there are 36 challenges, based on the 36 Chambers, you complete the challenges and are rewarded with various things such as artwork, songs, weapons and combos for the members.

Graphics 6/10
The graphics for this are actually very good for its time and I didn't notice many glitches at all, not much else I can say about this but that it's a 90s Playstation game and the graphics aren't to today's standards.

Controls 9/10
The controls are also very simple you have your combos that you can master there's quite a number of them but once you get about halfway through the game you get used to them. Also, you have your typical setup of 2punch, 2kick, block, and crouch buttons.

Some games when you bought them back in the day came with a rare Wu edition controller.
