Synopsis:

Cinders is a mature take on a classic fairy tale with a heavy emphasis on player choices and role playing.(Courtesy of Steam)

Story:

The story is based strongly on the fairy tell Cinderella with many new "additions"??? This game is a visual novel so the player basically plays as cinders who is the servant to Lady Carmosa. The difference between the fairy tell and this? You have the ability to take fate into the hands of cinder. The game is literally not that different from the fairy tell. It follows cinders and her adventure in the harsh world known as reality. (I'm so sorry about me murdering this, I cant decide how to explain it, Like the Fairy tale or like the game...)Any way you must play as cinders as she is faced with difficult situations in both reality and the dream world. Along her adventure cinders will learn the truth about her oppressive step mother and possibly grow closer with her sisters. In some cases in may be different. Cinders may grow away from them and even end up harming her step mother. As the story progresses cinders will associate with many characters and even meet some new and mysterious ones along the way, she will also have to cook and clean for the family, run errands into town, Investigate odd things happening to her and around her, and even attend the princes ball, she will even have to choose to fall for a Captain or the prince, Or even both. When the time comes for cinders to choose, Will she choose Dreams or Reality, Good over Evil, Wealth over happiness, or Will she choose to leave it all behind to follow her mothers friend to freedom? Its all up to you and the decisions you make along the way.

Gameplay:

There isn't much to the game play. It simply is you reading dialogue between cinders and herself, other characters, or the supernatural. There isn't really much to do. But you can choose to hold off on your current assignment to visit the lake, or what not (Only at certain parts) Every once in a while you'll be charged with making a simple decision, The decision will affect the people around you and how the story progresses. As you make important choices a flower will appear in the upper right hand corner to display you current status as good or evil. Depending on how the vine has bloomed determines what ending you will receive. It won't be till way later that you will have to make any major decisions that will affect this vine greatly. But keep in mind to get 1 of the 4 endings you will have to make the perfect decision each time.

Graphics:

The graphics are actually quite beatitude, colorful, and even elegant. The art style in my opinion, Is calm I feel as if actual time was taken into the creation of the scenery/environment. How ever I can not say the same about the characters, They are nicely drawn but to me they are also a major eye sore, I feel like moacube needs to make the character artwork more subtle and fitting into the scenery, More than trying to make the characters realistic. It appears if they simply put the characters on top of a background layer Photoshop. The animation of the characters in this game how ever is EXTREMELY HORRIBLE! The lip sync that Moacube tried to complete is completely off. Its simply just the mouth moving up and down or a quick and sudden facial expression change. The graphics are also however quite simple and 2D. They are not in my taste but they may be for you, so Ill include some for you to decide as well. Personally I like it and then I hate it.

Controls

Really there isn't any controls. Basically all you're doing is clicking to advance text or select a choice. You can change dialogue to play automatically or appear instant. But you click to advance or press enter, and ctrl to go back. Not much to it so I really don't see a reason to explain them to in depth into detail. But considering this is a visual novel I cant express any opinion on the controls, but I do like how I can set it to advance without the need for user input until its time to make an Important Decision.

Personal Opinion:

I do NOT know why I paid $20 for this, I'm stupid, I don't know what I was thinking, I regret it. literally I beat this game in 60 minutes (Which is along time for spamming the enter key) because I refused to let the $20 go completely to waste. In my opinion just read the BOOK FOR FREE! THAT'S RIGHT FREEEEEE! But I assume to some people the story is good and the game is good, BUT TO ME IT IS NOT! I feel there is no more need for me to explain my self.

Story Line Rating: 3/10 (Its basically Cinderella)
Gameplay: 2/10 (Its a visual Novel and its to simple for me)
Graphics: 8/10 (In my opinion, The only good thing about this game!)
Controls: 4/10 (Why wasn't there an option for it to automatically decide for me)
Overall Rating: 4.9/10
