Story

The story to Kinect Joy Ride is simple, yet entertaining. Work your way from the bottom, and gain fans through races! The better your finish, the more fans you gain! More fans unlocks more cars for you to race in, more game modes to compete in, and more tracks to drive on! Gain more fans by doing stunts in the race! The fans will love it!

Gameplay

The gameplay of Joy Ride is pretty nice and smooth. You play as your own Xbox Avatar as the driver, and race for the win! You can show off to your fans by doing tricks and stunts over jumps and ramps. There are different game modes, including Races, Stunts, Tricks and Battles. Use boosts to blast past your opponents, and drift round corners like Ken Block! Trick game modes involve moving your body to instructed positions to make your car flip and fly, where racing modes are your usual 'first to finish winner'.

There is a large variety of cars, from look a like Ferraris, Shelby Cobra Copies, to Volkswagen classic Camper vans! There are 40 vehicles to drive in the game. Although these consist of 10 different models, each with 4 variant's of itself. The only problem is that all the cars handle the same.
The different cars are nearly all the same, just aesthetics that are different, which is great if you don't mind, or for kids. But if you want each car to be different, it's not the best really.

There are also not many tracks, just 6 different ones. Would be a lot better with more of them!

The multiplayer allows you to rival against your friends or find other Xbox live members. The gameplay is almost always fantastic with barely never any lag!

Graphics

The graphics are great for what the game is. It is displayed in full 1080p, and the cars have quite a bit of detail into them. The game itself isn't trying to be a realistic view on the cars, so the style is a cartoony style, but never the less, works great! The tracks have quite a bit of detail in, with animated surroundings and cartoony but great views, it looks quite nice. The bright colours make everything very eye catching and attractive!

Controls

The controls are extremely easy to grasp, but not great. As it is kinect, it is simple hand and body gestures, so no remembering what does what! Turn with your hands, and complete tricks with your body movements. Coming up to corners brakes automatically, and the acceleration is also automatic.
The steering is many a time, laggy and unresponsive. When it works, it's great! But sometimes it doesn't, and it's, well, not so great.

There is a free DLC pack for Kinect Joy Ride, called the Chevrolet Car Pack.

Rating

Overall, I would rate Kinect Joy Ride, 6/10

If there were more tracks, more variety and customisation of cars, and the steering was better, this game would be about 9/10! But as it is, it's not.
