Gameplay
Deadlight is a 2.5D side scroller with some platforming as well as some survival horror elements tied in with it. The player can only move left to right as it is a side scroller, but, it makes for a fun gaming experience even though you can only move on the X axis of the gaming field. The game consists of puzzles to avoid "shadows" or zombies that he encounters. The player is advised to NOT engage in combat with the shadows, but, when you have to you have various melee weapons, and very limited ranged weapons with very limited ammunition.

Plot
The story starts with Randall Wayne, waking up and only remembering a few memories which he uses as leads to where he is headed as the game takes place in the city of Seattle, Randall, must travel through various locations such as sewers, bunkers, as you progress through this game Randall has flashbacks slowly remembering where he is headed as well as how to use items. Randall begins to remember his wife and daughter as he fights and moves past the hordes of shadows, Randall quickly figures out what happens to his family and other friends and makes his final decision to join them in the afterlife.

Story
The story in this game is a very interesting as a lot of it is told through dialogue and flashbacks, I haven't seen a side-scroller get so in depth before at first I was skeptical but was reassured that it was a good game by a friend, playing throughout I enjoyed the mind teasers and how everything was pieced together. The story line to this game was one in it's own, I felt that this game might have the best storyline of any downloadable game that I have ever played! I also got this game while it was free with the "Free games with Gold" and that made it even better!

Graphics
Seeing as how this game is 2.5D it may seem unusual at first but grows on the player, the attention to detail is quite nice for smaller game like this and there were no draw backs like frame rate drops so no complaints on this portion. They put a lot of time and effort into not only making this game play great, but look great at the same time. The graphics crafted in this game are amazing to say the least.

Controls
The control is this game worked well as there were a different set than a usual side-scroller as they added melee and ranged weapons and it all just seems right for this game. Also, it is good to note that the controls of this game comes with a default controller layout that is set up so that most players (veteran and newbies) should be able to play this game no problem.

Ratings
Gameplay - 9/10
Plot - 9.5/10
Story - 9.5/10
Controls - 8/10
Graphics - 9.5/10
Overall - 9.5/10

Personal Note: This game was really worth the download in my opinion and I would recommend it most or all players as it applies a horror aspect but, nothing to frightening, I would like to see more games like this in the near future! Also, it is an added extra to note, that this game was one of the best if not the best downloadable games that I have ever played and therefore would recommend it to just about anyone!
