Synopsis
Most people think that death is the end, but for Ronan O'Connor, a Salem police detective with a chequered past, it is just the beginning. When Ronan is caught in a violent burglary, his life is brought to an untimely and brutal end. Shocked to find himself in the afterlife, his only escape from the limbo world of Dusk' is to hunt down his killer using new-found supernatural abilities.

Set in Salem Massachusetts, players have the freedom to explore the New England-style wooden houses, narrow streets, gothic churches and historical landmarks for clues. They will need to battle demonic spirits to preserve their souls whilst uncovering the shocking revelations about who is responsible for their death.

Gameplay
Within this game you play as detective, named, Ronan O'Connor, who is unfortunately killed by a relentless serial killer that he happened to be following. Ronan sees himself die to the serial killer and is left on the world in-between death and heaven, roaming the world to figure out his killer's identity to give him some closure, as well as to attempt to stop the serial killer. This is a search and find game where you look for clues about your murder with the help of many people, not all of which are alive. The FPS in this game tends to drop quite a bit, and makes for a somewhat lessened game experience. Also, installing the game to your hard-drive didn't seem to help the frame rate drops at all.

Plot
You enter the world that happens to be set in Salem, Massachusetts, as detective Ronan O'Connor, who is trailing the serial killer known as the "Bell Killer" who in turn throws Ronan out of a window and ends up finishing him off with his own pistol, unloading the entire clip into Ronan's slowly dying body. When Ronan is revived as a ghostly derivative of himself, he can't be with his wife in heaven until he figures out what is binding him to the real world. He starts the investigation of his murder with the help of another ghost, Abigail, as well as a medium, known as Joy. Joy is looking for her mother and is able to see Ronan because she is a psychic, Joy later gets arrested and Ronan goes to help as a sign of good faith. Joy is used by Ronan to move things and open doors for him. The duo later figure out that another fellow cop, Baxter is working with Joy's mother, Cassandra, in the same aspect that you are...trying to figure out the true identity of the Bell Killer. Rex, Joy, Ronan, Abigail, and Baxter are all main characters within this game and play big roles in the unavailing of the mystery of, "Who is the Bell Killer?"

Story
The story of this game is different in the fact that you play as a detective who is abruptly killed and then instead of dying, comes back as a ghost and used his detective abilities as well as his new found ghostly powers to figure out who the murderer actually is and solve his own murder/case! This game has a thrilling storyline where you are on a chase to find all the clues that in turn slowly unravel the killer's identity. The ghost aspect of this game makes for a somewhat creepy/scary story, as well as adding some ghostly powers that the living don't have access to like possessing and influencing the host. When you finally figure out who the killer is and meet him/her face to face, it makes you feel complete as a real detective would when they solve a case, and are then further rewarded by the fact that Ronan gets to go to Heaven and meet up with his wife, Julia once more.

Graphics
The graphics in this game were amazing. The buildings all look old, and as you would picture buildings and statues and what not to look like from the Salem witch era. The characters all look realistic and believable, as well as the demons and fellow ghosts that you encounter. The biggest problem that I have with this game is the fact that in most stages of this game your frame drops randomly, and you basically just have to stand there and wait it out for the frames to catch back up to your progress in game.

Controls
The controls of this game are that of any other third person game. Very easy to use button prompts for combat as well as interrogating and clue grabbing. Most any user should be able to pick up a controller and play this game on the default controller layout. I have no complaints within the control section of this game/review. Lastly, I feel that the sensitivity to this game might be a little high for some users, however, I play on a higher sensitivity, so it is a plus in my book.

Personal Note: This game was one of my favorite games of all time, and WAS my favorite detective style game. Throughout the game you are shown that telling the truth is more helpful rather than hurtful, and is a huge influence within this game. The game also talks about settling your debt's as to have a clean state when you enter whatever afterlife you happen to believe in. This game is great, and I would recommend this game to LITERALLY anyone. It was fun from start to finish, and really wasn't as repetitive as I figured that it would be. The ONE AND ONLY problem that my friend and I experienced within this game was the fact that the frame rate dropped a lot more than I was alright with, and took away from the experience in the fact that in the middle of the case you would have to stop and wait for the frames to catch back up to the game in that aspect.

I watched the Sw1tcher play a bit of this and it reminds me of L.A. Noire a lot. I will not be watching any more LPs and I will gladly pick this game up when I can.
