Synopsis
You can play more than 80 new minigames in the most recent Mario-themed party game, Mario Party 7. Mario and pals needed some time off, but they forgot to invite Bowser on their cruise. You can battle against an angry Bowser or up to seven of your friends on a single GameCube system. Mario Party 7 includes a few new characters and brings back microphone support from Mario Party 6.

Plot
A fellow friend of Mario by the name Toadsworth, offers Mario and his friends tickets to go on a cruise ship for relaxation due to all the hard work they do to protect Mushroom Kingdom. Unbeknownst to Bowser about the fun and relaxing cruise trip, Bowser becomes furious and enraged with conflicting emotions about why he wasn't invited to attend the fantastic cruise trip. With that, Bowser heads to the destination where the cruise ship is suppose to have stopped at first. Upon getting there, Mario and his fellow friends realize that Bowser had taken controlled over the resort and decide that its up to them to dethrone Bowser from ruling over again.

Gameplay
Mario Party 7 offers a wide array of different mini-games and quest for players to partake and enjoy. Like previous Mario Party games, players will select a board map to play on that will require players to try to collect the most stars by meeting the requirements in the game by the end of the set amount of turns. Players will get to use a wide set of different items that will either give the players an advantage or disadvantage depending on how the items are used during the game. Players will roll a dice block that will give them a number that they will move the set number of spaces rolled on the dice block. After each turn, players will participate in a mini-game. Depending on the type of space the player landed on, the mini-game could be a one vs three match, two vs two, or a free for all match. Unlike previous Mario Party games, the items placed on the board will have the layout of the player's character on the space showing other players who placed that item there and will receive any coins that an opponent loses from that space. Players can also instead of placing certain items on the map, can also use the items on themselves, depending on the type of item the player uses the item for. Another new feature to Mario Party 7 is that each character duo has a unique item that only the duo can use, but no other character can obtain. These special character items have a unique ability that its unique to each set of duo characters so some are somewhat better than others depending on how the player views them. Some examples of these duos are: Mario and Luigi or Princess Peach and Princess Daisy. Players will be able to play on six different board maps, each having their own unique ways in obtaining stars. Players can use the coins earned from mini-games, spaces, and other players to purchase items of their desire to aid them during the game. Another new feature is that at certain points during the game, the meter fills up which enables "Bowser Time", which Bowser appears on the board and causes destruction for players to deal with for a set amount of time. For certain mini-games, players will be required to use the mic but if the mic isn't plugged in or is disabled, the mini-game is cancelled.

Graphics
As with each progressing Mario Party game, the graphics just keep getting better and more enhanced. Each character in the game are fantastically clear and have more of a detailed look and appearance to them than previous Mario Party games. The items in the game also have a clearer quality and appear to have a brighter texture implemented to them. The layout of the boards on each map are exquisite and unique to each map, each one having its own set of characteristics. The textures on on the map and during the mini-games are absolute perfection in clarity and possesses that high quality that most players would find pleasing. The waves and flowing water on certain maps look spectacular and surreal that is sure to be noticed during the game. The backgrounds throughout have an array of colors that suites the game very well and looks pleasing to look at. Overall, the graphics are extravagant and of such substantial quality that players would find unreal.

Controls
Just like previous installments of the Mario Party series, the control setup is exactly the same. The only thing that is gonna have a significant difference is the controls for the different types of mini-games players will be playing. Players are gonna use every button command on the controller as well as the microphone unless it isn't plugged in or is disabled in many ways. From repeatedly tapping certain buttons to rotating the control stick in circles and various other button combinations are gonna be used when players play the mini-games in Mario Party Seven. The simple controls during the game is when players will be on the board portion of the game unless the player is completely new to the Mario Party series. Overall, the controls are nothing new to returning players but only are difficult if the player is completely new to the game.
