Synopsis
For more than 20 years, the Coalition and the Nationalists fought their bloody war. With war comes technology, and it developed at an astonishing pace. The two armies fought each other with ever more powerful weapons, yet neither side gained the advantage. Ultimately, the two sides ran out of funds, willpower, and men. As the armies collapsed leaving the country in anarchy, a new power rose. Sweeping down on the exhausted country, PSI's forces obliterated the remaining armies and began its conquest of the East. Now, the Western territories, mostly unaffected by the civil war, find themselves suddenly defenseless against a new and quickly growing east coast power.

Gameplay
Damnation features huge environments where free-running moves and action maneuvers are possible. Damnation uses a LOT of vertical up climb which is different from many other games of it's caliber. The game also, last but not least, features steam powered vehicles and quite a few guns to play around with!

Plot
This game is set on an alternate version of Earth in the 20th century after the Civil War of America has spanned across decades and steam has been used instead of combustion engines. The game's enemy is the rich industrialists that want to do away with the Union and Confederate armies in one swift movement! Damnation is centered around a group of freedom fighters led by Captain Rourke in an attempt to protect the war torn America from a dictator.

Story
The story shows a real struggle. The story shows that you can do almost anything with large amounts of money, and the rich bosses that you fight in this game show that often. They throw well equipped soldiers with high tech weapons at you time and time again while you are struggling to keep your people fed. The game is quite fun and takes a spin off that other games try for and can't really do. They go back in time, also while going forward, and they also choose to use steam instead of modern combustion engines and what not. It's quite a fun game, but slow at the start of the game.

Graphics
The graphics in this game aren't the best. They almost seemed rushed. You can tell where they were GOING to texture buildings and mountains and what not but there isn't as much detail in the game as I feel there could have been or was going to have been. The game's graphics aren't really bad, they just weren't finished in my own opinion.

Controls
The controls to this game are the basic third person shooter controls. The basic cover system paired with the basic aiming and firing controls/mechanics within this game. The default control layout for this game is the only choice and it works nicely for this game. There is no complaints in this section.

Multiplayer
There is multiplayer co-op in this game. In all honesty, I found this game difficult to play even on the lowest difficulty setting so I found it almost beneficial to have another human teammate rather than an AI that was all over the place and no help at all. The multiplayer to this game is quite fun and actually really helpful! One of the best parts of this game in my opinion.

Personal Note: This game is older, but still awesome. I rented this and played it and beat it the same day with my little brother playing along with me in co-op. We both had a great time with this game and it wasn't too awful hard with another team mate. Well worth a rent, and maybe a buy if you have another person that you can play the game with!
