Synopsis
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is an action hack and slash video game developed by Platinum Games and produced by Kojima Productions, for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. Although a Japanese release for the Xbox 360 platform was planned, that version was canceled. It is the ninth canonical entry in the Metal Gear series, set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, where players control Raiden, a cyborg who confronts the private military company Desperado Enforcement.
The game focuses on fighting enemies using a sword and multiple subweapons to perform combos and counterattacks. Through the use of Blade Mode, Raiden can dismember cyborgs in slow motion and steal parts stored in their bodies. The series' stealth elements are also optional to reduce combat. The game was originally announced in 2009 under the title of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, and was intended to act as an interquel between the events of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was well received by critics with the staff noting a growing popularity despite initial mixed reactions to Platinum Games' involvement. The game was praised for its sophisticated cutting system, its use of Metal Gear elements to complement the story despite the game's focus on action, and its intense boss fights. However, reviewers have criticized the game for its camera and story mode's length.

Gameplay
This is not like previous and conventional titles in the MGS series. The game is a hack and slash and involves getting thorough groups of enemies using swords and other subweapons that happen to be in Raiden's arsenal. At first glance it appears that the gameplay is nothing more than simple button bashing and slashing but when you actually get to grips with the gameplay you will realise it is much much more than that, there are very little techniques such as countering and skill moves that mean this game is much more than just button bashing. The slow motion camera is a fantastic addition to this game and is really cool at adding an extra game dynamic. If you are a traditional MGS fan and are put off by the style of gameplay then just give it a chance because it's awesome when you get into it.

Story
The story takes place 4 years after MGS4 and revolves around Raiden (a child soldier then a cyborg ninja) trying to find out about his past. The story to this game is very weak compared to other games in the MGS series and feels like its only purpose it to try and provide a reason for the gameplay. The characters you encounter are too cliche for my liking and the cutscenes are not up to scratch. You don't find yourself getting interested as much as you do with other games in the MGS series. The main story mode takes about 5 hours to complete depending on difficulty so it is very short. Overall I wasn't impressed by the story.

Graphics
The graphics are very decent and have a very smooth look to them when you are slashing away. The character detail is very nice and the lighting and shadows work really well. The game has a very vibrant feel to it but can also have a stark contrast in places I think this works really well for it. The enemies are designed really well and both them and your character are really detailed and good graphics wise. The backgrounds are varied and look nice graohically they have put good effore into the visuals here. The game looks really good, I will add some screenshots below so you can see.

CONTROLS
The controls are fantastic on this game, you can perform any move easily when you get to grips with them and you will find that they are very good as long as you don't button bash. The button layout is very good as you need to do several things quickly like block and counter so the fact that the locations of these buttons are very good means that it is easy for you to perform the actions. There are a few setting to change in the menu, sensitivity and button layout etc. but I don't think you really need to use them as the controls are solid anyway.
