Synopsis
Crysis is a first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek in their headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows and released in November 2007. It is the first game of a trilogy. A separate game entitled Crysis Warhead was released on September 16, 2008, and follows similar events as Crysis but from a different narrative perspective. At the time Crysis was released, and years thereafter, it has been praised for its milestones in graphical design.
The game is based in a future where a massive ancient space alien-constructed structure has been discovered buried inside a mountain on an island in the fictional Lingshan Islands, near the coast of the East Philippines. The single-player campaign has the player assume the role of U.S. Army Delta Force soldier Jake Dunn, referred to in-game by his callsign, Nomad. Nomad is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a "Nanosuit" which was inspired by a real-life military concept. In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies in various environments on and around the island.

Gameplay
Crysis is a game changing FPS that has set benchmarks that are still used several years later for comparion that's how good this game was. The gameplay to this game is very good, there is a lot of weapons to choice from and your character has a suit of armour which gives him super human capabilities such as invisibility and super strength because of these the gameplay is not static and varies from situation to situation. In some instances it is better to use a stealthy approach and others an all guns blazing approach, the suit of armour assists this. There is a number of vehicles which you can use to travel about the big map which is very open and awesome by the way (you can spend hours just travelling around and exploring without even thinking about the main storyline), these range from boats with machine guns attatched to trucks, this makes it super interesting to travel about the map and you never seem to be able to get bored. The combat and gunplay on this really superb and has set the tone for many years on what a good FPS is. Rest assured the gameplay on this really is amongst the best.

Story
You play as Lieutenant Jake Dunn who is part of the US military. You are sent to a island where the North Koreans have made a major discovery, when you arrive you discover that there is heavy NK fortifications, but that they are not the only ones there, something isn't quite right about this island. (I won't go into more detail than that as I wouldn't want to spoil it for you). The story mode on this game is very good and doesn't seem either linear or to lack focus. I found myself becoming emotionally invested in the characters and pondering on what their fates would be. This made me want to keep playing just to find out. You can really empathize with the characters and they have done really well making the story so much better than other FPS games that are just about the gameplay, that's what makes this so good. The ending was also very good in my opinion so be sure to keep an eye out for that if you play.

Graphics
Do the graphics in this game even need an introduction? They are simply amazing (and can give many games several years its junior a run for their money). The tropic island gives it an amazing canvas to work with and everything has just been so perfectly executed, the lighting, the shadows, the grass, the water, the weapons....I could keep on going. I can only imagine what this is like on the highest settings on a gaming rig.

CONTROLS
The controls for this game feel very good and this is coming from a console point of view. I can only imagine that it's even better on the pc where you can make your own controller scheme. The button layout is amazing and you can choose from a bunch of presets in the menus if you are not happy with the default. If you are familiar with any FPS game then you will be comfortable with the controls. They make good use of the buttons in regards to the weapon wheel (where you can make changes to your gun e.g. adding a silencer)it is very simple to do because the controls are good. No issues here at all.
