Synopsis
Resistance: Fall of Man is a 2006 science-fiction horror first-person shooter video game for the PlayStation 3. It was developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game is set in an alternate history 1951, and follows Sergeant Nathan Hale as he and the human resistance forces attempt to drive a mysterious alien-like invasion out of Britain.

Gameplay
The gameplay is typical of a first person shooter, what sets it apart is that it was the first of many on the playstation 3. There is a huge variety of weapons and grenades which add a nice variety to the game. The missions are set in a number of locations and different landscapes, this is really cool and you don't get bored of the game. Another feature that improves the gameplay is the use of the six axis controller which just gives another dimension to the game.

Story
The story is set in the 20th century in a parallel universe where our historic events didn't happen. The game is a mix of military and horror genres. In a matter of years a species called the Chimera who had the ability to spread and make other living things turn into Chimera through a virus has taken over all of Russia and most of Europe. You play as US Sgt Nathan Hale and it is up to you to try and stop this virus. The story is very detailed and works extremely well with the gameplay, they both complement each other. The historic aspect to this game is really cool and the setting make the story more intriguing. The characters are really well developed and you actually find yourself empathising with them and becoming heavily invested in the story arch.

Multiplayer
There is a multiplayer which is capable of having 40 players online and 4 player split screen. The maps are awesome and varied just like the campaign and there is a great balance of weapons to play with. This makes the gameplay more enjoyable as it's not the same repetitive gameplay over and over again. The different game modes that feature like team deathmatch (my favourite) and the solo deathmatch mean that you have the chance to play a varied objective. A few more modes would have been nice but it's still very good. The ranking system is really good on this as it gives you a reason to want to play it more as you will want to be a higher level. The multiplayer is very fun to play and I'd recommend it to all especially if you can play it with friends because that makes it even better when you team up and play together to win matches. The campaign is probably better but the multiplayer is a welcome addition to this fantastic game.

Graphics
The graphics on this game have a really nice feel to them. The weapons look good and the environments are incredible. The textures are really good especially on the weapons. The players and enemies look really detailed and the cutscenes are very good. They make excellent use of the lighting and colours in this game by using dull tones that really set the atmosphere of a post alien virus out break. The graphics are the first of its kind on the next gen when they came out and still look good today. Feel free to check out the screenshots in the spoilers below.

CONTROLS
Once again the controls on this game are solid, coupled with a bunch of presets to select from the menus you will have no issues with the controls on this game. What is really good about this game is that it utilises the six axis controller and you have to rotate and shake the controller at different parts of the game. The controls feel really good and the button layout is solid, it is similar to other FPS games and it works really well.
