A 22-pound house cat scared a Portland family into calling 911 for help Sunday. The family called 911 at 7:55 p.m., telling dispatchers the huge cat named Lux attacked their baby and then forced them to flee into a bedroom, where they remained holed up inside.
The baby was not injured but the 911 operator could hear Lux screeching in the background.

"I kicked him in the rear and he just went off, over the edge," the caller told the 911 dispatcher. "We are not safe around the cat. We're trapped in the bedroom. He won't let us out of the door."

I'm guessing that kick was a lot harder than they are ever going to tell anyone.
Either that, or the cat has something wrong with it neurologically.
Considering it probably hasn't done that before though, I'm guessing it was all down to the kick.

He's obviously kicked the cat before and the cat most likely got sick of it.

Haha a little cat is such a threat? Well, I can't accept that.
I think they just had to squirt a little bit of water in the face of that berserk and
the berserk shrinks to a normal, harmless cat again . They behaved like their live were threatened or something like that and I think that's a little bit exaggerated.

Well, 22 pounds for a cat is actually pretty big. They are also highly dangerous when they are that angry. They may not kill you, but there is a chance you may not look the same after the attack. Their speed and claws are vicious (reason why dogs around the same size usually back down from cats.) I had a 15-20 pound cat. I pushed him down just messing with him like I always did. Well, he wasn't really in the mood that day. He stared at me, got on his hind legs, and started slapping me in the head. If he actually used his claws (which he rarely/never used), he would have tore me up.

I'm guessing the cat in the article was just not in the mood to be kicked. I'm sure I would object and lash out a bit if I got kicked in the rear as well.

I was watching this on the news and I have to say this is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. In the end they end up keeping the cat away.
