Genre(s): Construction and management simulation, city-building, massively multiplayer online game
Mode(s): Single-player, multiplayer
Synopsis:
In SimCity, the player is given the task of founding and developing a city, while maintaining the happiness of the citizens and keeping a stable budget. In SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4, the player is allowed to alter the terrain of the city before building on it.
The player must define zones, each having limits on the kind of development that can occur there. Development of the zones is not performed directly by the player, but happens when certain conditions are met, such as power supply, adequate transport links or acceptable tax level. The residential zones, in green, provide housing for Sims; the commercial zones, in blue, provide shops and offices; and the industrial zones, in yellow, provide factories, laboratories and farms. There are three different densities in the game: low density for small buildings, medium density for low to mid-sized buildings, and high density for anything up to large tower blocks.
Gameplay:
In SimCity you are the mayor of your very own city, you create each and every building within your city, unlike previous games in the series, the game has non-orthogonal and curved roads and zoning areas that can conform to different road types. Types of zones include residential, commercial and industrial. The density is driven by the types of roads built around these zones. With a starting budget of 25,000 Simoleons it is up to you to create the city with out blowing it, as time goes on, depending completely on your how you have created you city the game takes control of itself, you either make a budget if the Sims are enjoying your city and there are no problems or you lose profit if there are a lot of city problems and the Sims are miserable. Spend endless our developing your dream city and watch it come to life as you upgrade your city. You can also take on the role as God and choose apocalyptic style disasters once you unlock them. To move up the ranks of unlocking new building etc you need to be earning profit from your city and unlock achievements, you also unlock new unlockables depending on the population of your city. Create a world imagined only by you.Graphics:
For such a small game like SimCity the graphics are beautiful, everything is clear and you can see what is happening in your city even if you increase the game speed. The Sims are clear to see and the natural element is very realistic. No matter what angle you are playing this game from whether it is plan view or up close the level of detail is perfect. Compared to previous Sims series games this game is spectacular and extremely addictive I spent endless hours on it trying to improve my city. The graphics in this game are nothing short of amazing.Controls:
At first if you are new to this game the controls are extremely difficult to understand, this game involves a lot of movement to get from one place to another. To move you just you hold in the right mouse button and drag or you can also use W,A,S and D or the arrow keys which is a more simpler approach. The HUD is very clear and the building options are at the click of button making the building part of the game very simplistic. To look around you just use your mouse or touch pad. After you learn the controls of this game it is very to understand then you spend endless hours playing this game, addicted to it. I think the developers done a great job with the controls as they are easy and understandable to use once you figure them out.Rating:
Synopsis: 8/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Graphics: 10/10
Controls: 9/10
Overall: 10/10

I have played this a number of time but can never seem to get into it very fast, it's a very slow paced game for the younger people I think.

Nice review.

I used to play this game all of the time. When stuff went wrong in your city, it really went wrong.

This game got boring pretty fast though, as its very repetitive.

Nice review as well. Really sums up the game well.
