Synopsis
Super Mario Strikers, known as Mario Smash Football in Europe and Australia, is a five-a-side football (soccer) game developed by Next Level Games for the Nintendo GameCube. The game was released in Europe and North America in late 2005, and in Japan and Australia in 2006. The game's sequel, Mario Strikers Charged, was also developed by Next Level Games and is available for the Wii. The game's developers had worked on the NHL series before development of Strikers, which served as an influence for the fast-paced and physical nature of the game.[1] Super Mario Strikers was the last Mario title released on the Nintendo Gamecube.

Gameplay
The gameplay of Super Mario Strikers is similar to the FIFA series but in a Mario version of the game. It has the similar basics and functions in the game but just the arcade version including the ability to dash, lob the ball, and tackle players. The one thing that is annoying is the players with no possession of the ball can literally hit them to get the ball. The game is a 5 on 5 game with different or the same characters. What I mean by that the player gets to have 3 character sidekicks on their team. These sidekicks will come in handy when it comes to hitting, doing some trick plays, and doing much more. Kritter is the goalie on each team, if the ball gets in the goalie square I wouldnt run in there if I were you. He is also a hard goalie to get the ball around in there. The game also has perfect passes and perfect shots which can really help you score goals to win. There is another shot that only the captain can do, Super Strike. A super strike is the hardest shot to block and comes in fast. The goalie is gonna have to block all of the balls coming at him at once. It comes at a certain speed depending on where they hit the line on the chart. The game also has slow motion passes, if your doing a lob pass in slow motion form your guy can easily be seen jumping up and spinning around and hitting it. You can score a little more with slow motion passes. You cant forget the weapons in a Mario game can you? Well if your getting punished bad in the game your playing then you will start to earn better weapons than regular like a chain chomper. Each weapon you get is based on how bad your losing or how much your winning. I really like how much fun this game is and how different it can be each match.

Graphics
This game is a really good graphic game. Each map is different looking depending on which one you choose. The regular map is just a green field with a stadium around it. It has a great texture to it, like some spots will look rougher in some parts than the other parts. I dont know if your understanding when I say rough, but some parts have more dirt spots than others. Before the game, the players first run out of there locker room as a group waving to the crowd and looks as a real game would. When your playing and your running around you can see parts of the field fly up on your screen from running so much. Another map is an interactive map, your in a hurricane. The map your playing on stone and on some parts of the stone it looks cracked in some parts and looks great. But when the hurricane comes while your running through the map cows and tractors will start flying on the field trying to hit you. If you do get hit by one of the things you can fly off the map and you might have 4 players on the field temporarily. I would say the graphics are amazing in this game and need no improvements to it at all.

Controls
The controls I really didnt like of this game but I understand why they put a control in a specific spot. Another thing that I dont really like is that buttons have multiple controls but you can tell when you press a specific button near something it will do that control. The "B" button is to shoot the ball, slide tackle, and clear the ball if your the goalie. Now I dont really understand why they put B to shoot the ball but I understand the other two. I thought A should be shooting the ball but instead it is passing and switching your characters. But the thing is about the game is with all the various amounts of controls on a button, when you dont have the ball or do it will do whatever your trying to do. It wont be a mess like "I hit B to shoot and it did slide tackle," It wont be like that. I really didnt like the controls of this game but that is just me, I think they could change some controls to different spots and it would make it better.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of mario, but this does look very fun to play. I might try and pick this up in the near future. Cheers for the review buddy, made me want it now. Darn you!

This was one of my favorite games to play with friends on my game cube back in the day. I used to hate playing those damn robots in the finals.

Good times.
