Game Information
Release Date: December 6, 2004
Developers: Hudson Soft
Publishers: Nintendo
Platforms: Gamecube
Genre: Party
Players: 1-4

Synopsis
Summary: Mario Party 6 offers a new batch of games that require both your fingers and your voice. In this installment in the Mario Party series, you can use the included microphone controller to talk your way to victory. More than 80 minigames are included. You can play as Mario, Bowser, or other characters from the Mushroom Kingdom. New characters appear on the board depending on what time of day it is. The game supports up to four players.

Plot
In the world of Mario's universe, Brighton and Twila who are the sun and moon of the world kept disputing about who was the better one from amongst them both. With both of them arguing, they created a dramatic storm that caused Mario and his friends to go and see what is happening. As Mario attempted to stop the argument, Mario comes up with the idea of using the stars as power to end the dispute. By throwing a party in the skies of Brighton and Twila, Mario and his friends collect the stars to achieve pages to insert into their miracle book.

Gameplay
Mario Party 6 features a wide assort of mini-games to play from. A unique feature in Mario Party 6 is that when playing a party match, the game setting time will change from day to night after 3 turns which have an affect on the outcome of the game. During daytime, everything is kept the same and is basically normal but when its night time, things change such as Twila will change the cost of stars the players will need. The prices will either be decreased or increased dramatically. Certain actions will occur when a player lands or passes by a certain space if its during night time. Players will be able to play on 6 different boards that have their own unique setting and theme. Mario Party 6 features 11 characters to choose from which 3 of the characters are new to the Mario Party series. A cool feature players will notice is that they can use the microphone on mini-games that require them to use the microphone in order to participate. Mario Party 6 features 82 different mini-games to play from, which some are similar games from previous Mario Party games while some are new. And another new feature is that when players place orbs on a space that is landed on by another player that makes players that land on it lose coins, the player who placed the orb receives the coins as well.

Graphics
The graphics in Mario Party 6 are in a much clearer quality than what Mario Party 5 was. The textures throughout the board maps, background, items, and character are very well created with the right balance of colors and quality. The in-game text messages and pop-ups are very clear and easy to read for the player. The colors upon multiple characters seem to appear more bolder since the colors appear a bit darker than what they did on Mario Party 5 and 4. The details on the map are spectacular since they are really easy and clear to see. The small details like the lines along the walls stand out and brings a sense of realism to it since its so clear and fascinating to see. Overall, Mario Party 6 doesn't really have too many changes added to it but the overall difference that separates it from previous Mario Party games in the colors are bolder in depth and has more clarity.

Controls
Like every other Mario Party game, the controls will be used in many different ways depending on the mini-games. The player will indeed be using every single button and control on the controller in some way or fashion. Some mini-game's controls will have the player rotating the control sticks, simultaneously press multiple controls repeatedly and press and hold certain buttons for a short period of time. The controls for the board part of the play through remain the same. For those returning players of the Mario Party series, they should know what to expect while those newcomers will have to learn the controls of the game. But with every Mario Party, the game features a practice mode for players to understand how the controls function and work. Overall, not really much of a change to the controls but the mini-games will have different controls which could prove difficult to some and easy for others.

Rating
Gameplay: 9.7/10
Graphics: 9.8/10
